Invisalign?
Nikki, I am three weeks into my invisilign. Before spending too much time wondering - go see an orthadontist, he/she'll tell you (for free or don't go) if you're a candidate. If so, here's the good and bad I've seen. G: easy to take in/out if you need to or don't want to have that slight lisp; not painful (the ortho may need to "polish" a bit (I call drill) to make very small gaps between some teeth to allow for movement. I'm a huge chicken and this didn't hurt!; You don't see them. I have to tell people they're in. B: Cost as much as braces. Mine are about $5,000; You can't eat or drink anything other than water with in. Acutally, for me (a 40 yr old) it's been good cause it's cut down on snacking because it's not too hard to take in/out, but still you have to make sure nothing's in teeth when put back in, so I just don't snack; it takes up to a year (mine are scheduled for 8 months); I saw about a 15 year old the other day at the ortho and remember thinking these wouldnt be good for a fast-moving, always out with friends, kind of kid who may also not be totally responsible cause if lost they are expensive to replace and if not worn at least 20 hrs a day or so, they don't work. BTW, you typically get a new pair (or just one if you're only doing top or bottom - I'm doing both) every two weeks. I just got a six week supply (three pairs) and I don't have to go back, I just change every two weeks. Hope this helps. Smiles
Reply:well my dad had it and they DO take longer than regular braces...but they are clear so you can't see them at all!! He needed regular braces too, but I think that was just because his teeth were pretty crowded.
Reply:Invisalign works quite well for adults. It cannot be used in teenagers or pre-teens.
Reply:NIKI,

AS LONG AS ALL YOUR PERMANENT TEETH HAVE ERUPTED AND YOU DON'T HAVE WISDOM TEETH THAT ARE DUE TO ERUPT OR HAVE DENTAL WORK THAT IS PENDING THEN INVISALIGN MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU, BUT CHECK THIS WITH YOUR INVISALIGN CERTIFIED DENTIST.
