I just got invisalign today. for me, they had to put several bondings on my teeth, so that the trays will grip better. The bondings are these tiny teeth-colored bumps on certain teeth. I may be paranoid, but it makes my invisalign trays much more visible.
Do most people who get invisalign get these bondings put on?
Also, how do you clean the trays? how long do you guys wear it for each day. I heard it's 20 hours, so does that mean I need to limit my eatting/snacking/brushing/flossing to 4 hrs/day?
Any suggestions or input for someone who JUST got invisalign would be greatly appreciated.
Invisalign - For people who is or have used them...?
Answer above. Perfect. In the early days the little bumps were not reccomended as often. However, after the realization that the invisaligns system has some difficulty with tooth rotations they wer added to aid in some of the more complex cases. Now I see them reccomended for more that half the cases.
Cleans the trays with soapy water, not tooth paste because the paste will scratch them up and make them appear dull.
Wear them all the time except when your eating or brushing.
Suggestions? Show them off you are hip now.
It's funny you get them so they are not noticed, but so many patients are more than willing to take em out and show them off.
Have fun enjoy your treatment. Know that you are not in as much pain as you would be with traditional braces.
Reply:I'm continually suprised at the questions asked here that could be settled much better by a simple phone call to your dentist.
That being said...The "bumps" you speak of are typical with Invisalign. They are usually placed on back teeth and are not noticable. Most people don't even notice them after awhile, and the fact that you are new to wearing the aligners is probably why you even know they are there.
When your dentist delivered the case, he/she should have explained how long you should wear them and why.
In general, you wear the aligners all the time unless you are eating or brushing. The more you wear them, the quicker results you get. You don't need a stop-watch to time how long you have them in or out...just use your best judgement. It's really up to you how long your want your treatment to last.
Please, call your dentist. You can even talk to the dental assistant who would be happy to instruct you on cleaning the trays and answer any other questions you might have. It won't cost you a thing. You might also try www.invisalign.com and look for FAQ's.
