Invisalign braces?

ok well I'm 14 and I'm just getting braces on..but obviously, like any other teenager I don't want them to be seen..I was just wondering if the invisalign system (it's new) would be o.k. for me..my teeth aren't too bad but I have a cross bite.. so..you dentists out there..any information on invisalign? please and thanks! =]

Invisalign braces?
Invisalign really isn't for people who still have their wisdom teeth in, but my orthodontist didn't tell me that. They have a 50% failure rate for people with wisdom teeth. I had them for about six months, and after that they just wouldn't fit in my mouth, which really sucked. I ended up getting braces in the long run, and I wasted a lot of time with the Invisalign. They take a lot longer then normal braces. Also, regular braces are better because you can get precise results, Invisalign doesn't give perfect results. Honestly, if you are concerned with how they look, get the sapphire braces, or the ceramic ones. They are hardly noticeable, and it goes by much quicker. I had the sapphire ones, and I had people say "did you just get braces" a year after I've had them.
Reply:Invisalign is not for everyone. You need to be evaluated by an orthodontist to see if you're even a candidate. Also, Invisalign costs a lot more than regular braces. I've had braces for a year now. I was okayed for Invisalign, but opted for regular braces when my ortho explained that the Invisalign would only close the spaces between my teeth and not do anything to re-align my bite. What I did get though was ceramic braces on top and regular metal on the bottom. The ceramic brackets look like your teeth. It doesn't even look like I'm wearing braces when I smile. Several people have been surprised to find out I even have braces after they've spent I don't know how much time around me and never noticed them before. I saw a photo someone took of me a couple months ago and I couldn't even tell I had braces on. The bottom teeth don't need ceramics as they don't really show when you talk or smile.
Reply:Everyone is different and Invisalign is not for everyone, despite what some commercials, or people say. Too, invisalign can't do everything...like correct a crossbite. You would be better off with clear brackets. Braces can correct a lot more with greater detail. Don't worry! So many people, kids, teens and adults now have them. You'll fit right in!
