Braces versus Invisalign?

Braces versus Invisalign?

My son needs to get braces. He has bucked front teeth. I was wondering about the pros and cons of braces versus Invisalign? I've never worn braces myself, so I don't know what they're like. Have any of you tried Invisalign and do they work as well as braces, in your opinion? Anyone tried them with bucked teeth? What about the cost difference? How much did you pay for your braces or Invisalign? Also, do you have to wait for all of your permanent teeth to be in before you get braces or Invisalign, or can it be done while he still has some baby teeth? (The bucked teeth are his permanent teeth, though). Thanks.

Braces versus Invisalign?
You need to wait until he has all his permanent teeth. You don't want to spend that time and money for him (and pain for him) to go through that, for it to get ruined when he loses baby teeth and gets permanent teeth in. Those could shift his other teeth and mess up what the braces had done and all that time, money and effort would be for nothing.

Invisalign are far less painfull than traditional braces. They don't cut up your gums like regular braces do. HOWEVER, they are only as good as the user who wears them. Meaning, your son can take them off at any time and not wear them. If he doesn't wear them because he doesn't like them, or they are uncomfortable, then once again, you are wasting money. They can potentially stain some, just like clear braces.

With traditional braces, they are cheaper than invisalign. They do tend to cut up your gums, but you can buy wax to put on the brackets to help with that. It is an adjustment getting used to speaking clearly, eating, brushing and flossing with traditional braces, but as long as your son would be willing to do that, then they are fine.
Reply:Obviously you will need an eval by an orthodontist. You should understand that not all corrections can be done with invisalign since they will not correct overbite (which your son musts have) and they will not work on corrections that will take longer than a year. Get a reccommendation for an orthodontist in your area and make an appointment to be evaluated for your needs.
Reply:Braces, Invisalign is best for adults. Goto the Orthodontist and have your son get an evaluation before you decide on this.
