Braces versus Invisalign?

My son needs to get braces. He has bucked front teeth. I was wondering about the pros and cons of braces versus Invisalign? I've never worn braces myself, so I don't know what they're like. Have any of you tried Invisalign and do they work as well as braces, in your opinion? Anyone tried them with bucked teeth? What about the cost difference? How much did you pay for your braces or Invisalign? Thanks.

The best thing to do would be to have a consultation with an orthodontist. Most offer free consultations. You may want to seek at least 2 different opinions to determine a plan of treatment for your son. Your son may or may not be a candidate for invisalign and only an orthodontist could tell you the best possible treatment for your son. I don't know how much it costs for invisalign, but I am paying almost $6000 for braces (ceramic). The price varies depending on each case. Hope this helps.

Braces have been perfected many times over with bucked teeth and can make your son's smile something to brag about and nice to look at. This new technology, invisalign is popular, but should only be used on kids who really don't need braces in the first place.

Because treatment varies greatly from person to person, its hard to determine which method is best, but I do know that in some cases Invisalign in not an option at all.





One of the biggest determining factors when given an option between traditional braces and Invisalign is COMPLIANCE. Braces are permanently placed while invialign uses a series of retainers that are worn practically 24/7. As most patients are children and young adults, traditional braces seem more prudent. Not only would they themselves be responsible for putting the invisalign in and wearing them the required hours, kids also are prone to losing retainers. Potentially you would be paying upwards of a few thousand dollars, you would not wont to pay more forr continued loss fo retainers and lengthening the amount of treatment due to them not wearing them as directed.
