Information about braces and invisalign?

Ok, Invisalign looks like an option I'd rather take, but I know nothing about this stuff :] I'm a sophmore in high school and I don't want braces in my senior pictures. If I get normal braces, which I'll probably have for 2-4 years ((duh)) then they'll be in my senior pics. Here come the questions..





How much do braces cost? ((estimate/average))


How much does Invisalign cost? ((estimate/average))


Does Invisalign really damage your teeth?

It all depends on how spaced out/crooked your teeth are. Most orthodontists will see you take pictures and talk to you about costs free of charge. There is no cost for the pictures or consultation. Example for prices my dads braces for two years is 8000. My invisalign that I only needed for a year is 3500. My teeth aren't crooked or very spaced out. My dads however are very spaced out. Ive never heard of invisalign causing damage, and I doubt it does. Thousands of people have used it.





I decided to edit cause I read others comments. My insurance did cover 50 percent of the cost for invisalign. Like I said at your consultation they will discuss costs and payment plans. Most places are very understanding of the high costs and will set up no interest payment plans over the course of your treatment.
Reply:I have never heard of invisalign damaging teeth, however certain cases are not good for invisalign (over bite, under bite).





I have invisalign now to fix gaps in my teeth. They are working out great and my dentist told me that they are faster than regular braces. I will have them in for a year, but no one can even see them! No one knows that I wear them.





They were a little expensive, about $4500. My insurance does not cover them because I am an adult. I think they are well worth the money especially if your other option is regular braces.





They are a little painful though. They are easy and invisable, but there is a lot of pressure when you get new trays as well as when you get wires tightened with regular braces. Good luck!

mine cost about 3200 because of my overbite and straightning of teeth.


i dont have invisalign because it couldnt fix my overbite but i heard it straightens well.
Reply:Invisalign WILL NOT damage teeth. In fact, invisalign will move your teeth and it will costs around $5000. Insurance won't cover it though.

*Since you can take them off you can brush, floss, and eat normally (I have heard of people getting gingivitis with braces because you can't floss and brush well)


*The negative is that invisalign puts you on the "honor system" as it's up to you to wear them because you can take them out. This is stupid though, to not wear them, because you are wasting money and your teeth won't get straightened, so why wouldn't you wear them.
