Eligible for invisalign?

i am 17 years old, but i'm missing some of my molars. i'm not sure which ones are missing, but i know that i'm at least missing them on my upper row. does that autmotically make me ineligible for invisalign? all i want to fix is spacing on my upper row.

Eligible for invisalign?
No, this does not automatically disqualify you for Invisalign treatment. It depends on what else is going on in your mouth and what your treatment goals are. Just ask an Invisalign-certified dentist to check you out and answer your questions.
Reply:Invisalign is made to treat mild cases of malocclusion, so this will depend on your dentist's evaluation.

Invisalign won't solve the problem of your missing teeth, it solves mild problems of spacing and teeth crowding, the more the case is severe, the more probably need a conventional orthodontic treatment (braces). So consulting your dentist will give you the chance to know all the options you have for treatment of your situation.

I'm starting invisalign tomorrow and I'm concerned about a possible wisdom tooth. Any help?

Obviously, I'll be talking to my orthodontist about this, but I'm a little concerned that nothing has been said about it already. I start my invisalign tomorrow, for a 5 month treatment, but over the weekend felt what I'm assuming is a wisdom tooth poking through my gum on the upper-left, back side of my mouth. There is no pain, nor has there been any. About 1 1/2-2 months ago I had panoramic x-rays done for my invisalign and about two-three weeks ago my treatment plan was sent to invisalign for approval/tray creation. At no time has anyone said wisdom teeth are an issue. Also, previous dentists have not told me that its imperative that I have wisdom tooth removal. However, I've been reading that wisdom teeth can cause crowding and I'm afraid that if this tooth causes that while I'm doing my invisalign, it will be counterproductive. I'm also thinking that since nobody said there were any problems I'm ok, and that I can just have the tooth removed after my treatment if need be.

I'm starting invisalign tomorrow and I'm concerned about a possible wisdom tooth. Any help?
If the dentist didn't say anything about the wisdom teeth, they must not be a problem. So, you're right, they'll probably be removed after your treatment if need be.You don't need your wisdom teeth and they will need to be removed before they cause any problems.

TO PEOPLE WHO HAS USED OR HAVE INVISALIGN..........?

I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING INVISALIGN

i am 17 years old,i know that i have to go to the dentist for my questions but i wanted to come here first.

* if i just want to close my gap, how long do you think i would have to wear the invisalign retainer?

*if i only want to fix the top row in my mouth will the price decrease or stay the same?

*how long did you have your invisalign retainer and/or did it work?

TO PEOPLE WHO HAS USED OR HAVE INVISALIGN..........?
Prices vary from place to place - although Invisalign lab charges dentists the same amount no matter where they live.

In my part of the world, a limited case starts at $2700. Time for limited case, maybe 6 months or less.

If you have orthodontic coverage with your dental plan (or your parent's plan) it will cover Invisalign exactly the same as it would regular ortho.
Reply:if that's all you want ,get invisalign i have it right now.

Do i have to remove my braces (invisalign) in order to take tylenol?

this has to do with my previous questions about my invisalign. according to the dentist and the manafacturers of invisalign I can only have invisalign in my mouth for water, but my teeth hurts and i don't want to take them out. I have already taken them out to eat pizza-it was really sore before i took them out and after i put them back in. Any help is welcomed.

Do i have to remove my braces (invisalign) in order to take tylenol?
As long as you do not have trouble swallowing the pill, go for it. But, only if it is a pill, don't do liquids or chewables. They tell you that b/c almost everything sticks to that material/stains it. However, ibuprofen/motrin works better for teeth pain. I like aleve the best on teeth pain from braces. This is b/c tylenol has no antiinflammatory action which is what is causing a lot of your pain.
Reply:I would say not, your not chewing the pill, your swallowing it, but if your that concerned, call your orthodontist.
Reply:You should be fine to leave them in while you are taking some Tylenol. Here's a hint: next time you are getting ready to start a new set of trays take some Tylenol about 30 minutes before and that will help with any soreness. Good luck!

Anywhere I can get Invisalign for less than $2k? My insurance covers the rest, but trying to get lower.?

I'm a candidate for Invisalign. My insurance will pay for half of orthodontic care, which leaves me with $2k of expenses for Invisalign. Has anyone been able to get it for less?

I live in Atlanta.

Anywhere I can get Invisalign for less than $2k? My insurance covers the rest, but trying to get lower.?
So, if your insurance pays half, then your dentist is charging $4K?

For a full or complex case, that's pretty reasonable. A limited case would run much less.

Your dentist will probably allow you to pay over the course of treatment, as long as the balance is paid in full before your last aligner is delivered.

General dentists usually charge somewhat less than Orthodontists. Check the Invisalign website for dentists in your area and then call around.

It's been said here before, but "cheap" in dentistry often means lower quality. Go with an experienced dentist and you will be glad you spent the extra $$$ in the long-run.
Reply:$2,000 is not too much more than Invisalign charges the dentist for an average case. I'd be absolutely shocked if you could find it for "below cost."

Also, if your insurance pays fifty percent and you get a fee of (let's say) $3,000, they would then pay only $1,500. And so on. If your contract says, "50% for orthodontia up to a maximum of $2,000," doing this any other way is illegal.

Can invisalign correct overbite?

i have a deep over bite doctor said about 80 percent (bottom teeth touches top root)

can invisalign correct deep overbite

Can invisalign correct overbite?
No Invasilign is for only for minor teeth irregularities. You will most likely need braces (the train track type), on both the top and bottom sets of teeth because to correct an overbite head gear is required to fix an overbite.
Reply:no invisalign will not help this -- you will need braces and most ortho offices now have a T.A.D. temporary achorage device for overbites that they put in your mouth to pull your jaw back -- this is used instead of headgear.

Does Invisalign work?

I am interested in getting the Invisalign teeth aligners and im asking anyone who has used them if they work and if so how much time did it take (roughly).

Im 15 and have a crooked front tooth that I hope this system can fix along with an underbite.

Does Invisalign work?
This link will take you to the site -http://www.invisalign.com/generalapp/us/...

It is used to correct an underbite and will most definately take care of your crooked front tooth.

This page goes through the steps and says on average it takes about 1 year.

Also, as a hygienist I notice people's teeth alot, but the other day I had lunch with someone I don't see often and didn't even notice she had them. After I saw her take them out in the bathroom I was surprised and she is very very happy so far.

Hope that helps!

Reply:i have seen under bites fixed with invisalign and i think you should visit www.invisalign.com for more info and i do think that they work...i guess it really depends on what your case is and how severe it is....they usually take the same even less time and braces...around 2 years...and you get new trays as your teeth move which is every 2 weeks. i hope i helped you..and visit the site because i concidered them but my mom said braces were fine for me...
Reply:Um. I don't knoe from experience. But my friend, he got Invisalign and it works. But a lot of people say they make your teeth more yellow for some reason.
Reply:YEP IT DID HAVE THEM ON RIGHT KNOW I WOKE PRETTY WELL
Reply:The dentist I work for offers invislign. It strightens your teeth but does not fix your overbite, tmj, malocclusion, etc. You start by going to your dentist to see if your a canidate (most dentist will offer this visit for free with NO xrays). Then they will take about a dozen impressions of your mouth using impression material. They will send it off to the invislign lab. The invislign people send the dentist about 16-18 custom made trays that are designed for your mouth. You come about every six weeks to get your next set of trays. Costs range from $3500-$4800 or so. The real cost is only about $1500 or so.

Wisdom teeth erupted for invisalign?

my orthodontist said 3 wisdom teeth has to be removed before installing braces.i am also a candidate for invisalign. if i had invisalign do i have to remove this wisdom teeth as well.

Wisdom teeth erupted for invisalign?
I had mine taken out before invisalign too because they would have effected my bite if I hadn't. There is a lot more room in my mouth now!
Reply:yes you would have to remove the wisdom teeth. They will make the rest of your teeth crocked and will not alow the teeth you have in now go straight.
Reply:without removing the wisdom teeth ur orthodontist will not get plenty of space for tooth to move.thats mean ur brace treatment will be futile.rest as ur wish.
Reply:Yes, have them removed I had braces when I was younger. I did not remove my top wisdom teeth and now it doesn't even look like I had braces on my top teeth.

Does Invisalign work for bucked front teeth?

Anyone with experience with Invisalign? Do they work for bucked front teeth? How long would that take? And about how much $?

Does Invisalign work for bucked front teeth?
If your case is SUITABLE for Invisalign, it works wonderfully well - as long as you do your part and wear them (almost) 24/7. Any dentist doing Invisalign has to be certified to use them and should be capable of making the diagnosis of whether or not to use them. If Invisalign was suggested to you, then it should work for your case. Ask an Invisalign dentist and see. Check out http://www.invisalign.com to find a dentist if your own dentist does not do them.

I would not say that Invisalign is better or worse than braces, because it depends on the case. There is no set answer. After a few minutes of wearing them, your speech will sound just fine. They are very thin and pretty much exactly the same shape as your teeth. They do tend to increase the amount of saliva in your mouth at first, but you soon get used to that and the salivary flow seems to slow back to normal after a while, also.

In my rural South Jersey general practice, I charge $3,000 for most Invisalign cases, which is less than traditional braces in most cases. I have heard that some charge more for Invisalign than they do for braces, though. The thing is, I am not a specialist and I choose to do only "easy" cases that will not require extra devices to be used in conjunction with Invisalign. This can add to the fee significantly.
Reply:If you have an overbite then you cannot use them...I know because I had someone in a dentist's office tell me it would not work...however if you do not have a pronounced overbite then it may work.
Reply:There are many answers to your questions and it would be hard to be accurate without seeing your teeth.

I've seen some fairly dramatic cases solved by Invisalign. An experienced dentist (not just orthodontists, but general dentists as well) can do wonders with Invisalign.

Cases range from 5 months to almost 2 years. Where I work, the price is considerably less than traditional braces - easy cases start at $2700.
Reply:probably not, i had a 6month reg. braces and i couldnt even get invisalign!! and my dentist said that its not the best option because he cant really tell or adjust how the teeth will move. also it costs a lot more.

I wanted it because i didnt want anyone to know i had braces so instead i have clear brackets and still no one knows i have braces, even people i sit right next to at work!
Reply:Yes, my dentist has recommended them for me and my front teeth are bucked as well. My dentist said the price is $2000 and up - depending on how many trays are needed and so on. The time it takes depends on the severity of the teeth problems.
Reply:I wear them, and we do them in my office. The best anwer is to see a certified dentist who can properly evaluate your case. In my situation, I am half-way through my two year treatment, but I started with a lot of crowding. Each case is unique and how many trays you will need depends on the amount of movement the doctor is trying to achieve. Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign, but it sounds like "bucked" front teeth would qualify. Some of our patients only need them for 6 months or so, and others, like me with more complicated cases, need around 2 yrs. We are based in the Tampa area and our fee is $5400.00 for the average case, less for simpler cases. Bottom line is- see a qualified, certified dentist to give you more info. You can also check out their website, Invisalign.com Good luck.

Will invisalign work for my teeth?

I have a really bad over bite and a small jaw so on my bottom teeth its really crowded that two of my teeth are pushed way back. so i was wondering if invisalign will fix it?

here's what my teeth look like

http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e84/xo...

Will invisalign work for my teeth?
nope...Invisalign is only for people who have light cases, you know, simple things...Thats what my orthodontist told me...You are going to have to use a retainer for about 3 months, and depending on your doctor, you will probably get braces, or use retainers while you sleep for a while to get them normal and able to put braces on...
Reply:Invisalign is not made to fix over bites or under bites and tough cases like yours. You will need to talk to your dentist and see if he has any other options. Regular braces will most likely fix that problem.
Reply:no you will need braces
Reply:I looked into Invisilign- My front teeth didn't touch in the middle(as in I could stick my tounge between my front teeth while my teeth were clamped shut) and Invisilign wouldn't work for it- You have to have a minor problem like your teeth are a bit crowded or your teeth are a bit spread apart.
Reply:invisalign could definately fix your bottom teeth... but im not sure about the overbite... i have invisalign... im only on my 7th tray but im starting to see changes.... at 1st they're gonna be uncomfertable for the first few days but u'll get used to it.... good luck

Anyone else hated their invisalign treatment enough to quit it?

I have been doing invisalign for about 6 months, and I am probably going to quit because I hate it so much. It hurts, is uncomfortable, makes me talk funny...

My teeth aren't that bad, just some minor spaces on bottom. I should have been happy that my teeth are white, and look good in pictures. My family and friends say my teeth are fine, and thought I was crazy for getting invisalign. I guess I just wanted those perfect teeth, but can't stand the pain anymore!

Anyone else hated their invisalign treatment enough to quit it?
I am guilty as well. It was starting to really get uncomfortable and was a pain. I hated taking them out everytime I had a drink or wanted to eat. My teeth aren't that bad either just a couple teeth that I wish were turned a little more. Oh well. I still have them in the cupboard and maybe I will try them again but I guess after a year I also didn't get the result I had hoped for. I haven't worn mine since last June. I was supposed to go back for an appointment in August but have avoided going back. I kind of wish I would have went with the regular braces. That way I wouldn't have given up and it is alot cheaper as well.
Reply:Just let it go.People torture themselves with trying to get the [perfect......]and you know..in the big scheme of things..who cares if your teeth have spaces..they are less inclined to rot cause you can clean them better.Be happy you have teeth..I dont

Is Invisalign more expensive than regular braces?

I have insurance, and I want to know if invisalign is more expensive. I am in my 20's and I do not want to wear regular braces again, but I need braces.

Is Invisalign more expensive than regular braces?
Invisalign is slightly more expensive than braces. But generally you don't have to wear them as long. One person that answered said that you were given the aligner trays and did not have to go back. This is not true. You wear one set of aligners for 2 weeks and then change them. Usually you go to the dentist about every 3 trays (6 weeks) to check and make sure everything is moving correctly and that no adjustments need to be made. I am a dental hygienist and I had traditional braces but my husband did Invisalign. Due to the type of correction that needed to be made on me, I was not a candidate for Invisalign. I would have preferred them if I could have had them. The first thing you need to do is go for a consultation. What is more important than price is the quality of work and staff competency. I would go to 2 or 3 different orthodontist that offer Invisalign (not all of them do) and have the FREE consult to decide. But remember that lowest price doesn't equal best results. Also your dental ins will only pay a portion of the price if ADULT orthodontics is listed under your coverage.
Reply:Yes they are more expensive.
Reply:Good question! I would be happy to answer it.. I actually had the offer of traditional braces to Invisalign. Oddly, they are about the same price. For braces, you have to come in every month to get them changed ( oh boy that adds up! )... And invisalign you get one kit with all of your retianers in it ... No changing and no coming in. Your best bet is to ask you dentist, my dentist was braces-2500( add about 300 to that for visits though) and Invisalign- 2700- ( with insurance) But hey, it all depends on the dentist! Go with the invisalign-its your best bet. I had it and it worked wonderfully ( actually i still have a invisalign that i have to wear to bed , but thats it! much better than braces...)

also to add- mine was much cheaper because i didnt have it very long .. about a year. so that would definitley change your price..)

jincy- i didnt have to go back many times at all .... like once or twice compared to every month with braces.. =)
Reply:I had braces about 6 years ago and they cost about $4,000 and I recently checked on invisalign and it was going to cost about $5,000 but the prices may vary depending on your dentist/orthodontist
Reply:Invisalign is more expensive. They also take longer an are much less efficient than regular braces.

Anterior Open Bite and Invisalign?

Hi,

I am getting different answers on whether an invisalign can fix an anterior open bite or not. Some answer yes, they can. Some answer they can, but limited to minor open bites. Some answer no and the only way to fix it is to wear braces. Is there anyone out there who had experiences in this case and could tell me whether an invisalign could fix an anterior open bite or not? Thanks!

Anterior Open Bite and Invisalign?
Whether Invisalign can fix or cannot fix your open bite, it depends on how severe it is, and on the results from the cephalometric exam that your dentist or orthodontist has done on you. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...

But usually Invisalign is more limited than braces for correcting open bites.
Reply:Bobby, it's fate that you asked this question today. My dental team is going to an Invisalign course this weekend in Chicago. At the last course I attended it sounds as if they will correct an open bite. If this question is still open when I get back I'll have a definite answer.
Reply:it would be best to wear braces cos for the open bite you would need to wear elastics to bring the jaws together but you could always e mail invisalign and ask direct or if its really what you want the invisable brace has just been invented in england called clearstep lots better than invisalign

Braces? Invisalign? Nothing just a whitener?

Ok, here we go, Im 16 and i have yellow spaced out teeth, bottom teeth are fine, just a big space between front teeth, it doesnt look very good. I probly should have gotten braces when I was younger but im really not a dentist fan so i didnt. Im thinking its too late for braces now (16) so id rather not get them. So wat im thinking is if i would get a teeth whitener like "celebrity sexy smile" to whiten my teeth would it really look that bad? invisalign sounds good but as ive been reading that requires alot of trips to dentist (i dont like the dentist), and its really expensive. So im not really sure what to do, help? opinions?

Braces? Invisalign? Nothing just a whitener?
Well you're right: Braces and Invisalign do require multiple trips to see your orthodontist/dentist. But remember these are NOT your regular dental visits. An orthodontist's office visit is usually much shorter (think 15-20 minutes) and usually there are no needles involved. They're mostly checking to make sure everything is moving along as it should and to tweak things a bit if they're not.

16 is definitely NOT too late for braces. Many times people have to wait until they're done growing before braces can be placed AND many adults are getting braces (even grandparents).

Invisalign is more expensive than the regular braces and in general they are more limited in treatment, but you save yourself the tin grin.

The space between your front teeth may be more complicated than you think. Often times the space is there because you have a thick band of tissue that's pushing apart your front teeth. You may need to have that cut out in order to close the space.

Whitening is a great and relative to braces a cheap option. Maybe start with this and see if that's enough for you. But don't go overboard -- the chiclet look is definitely overrated :)
Reply:To start off, I'm 20 I'll be 21 in December- you are not too old for braces trust me *giggles* - granted I look 15-16 years old, lol. I also had a gap between my two front teeth [the bottom row was fine]. My teeth had a yellowish tint to them after years of eating curry [its a West Indian - Trini thing]. I hated that gap!!!! PPL told me it was sexy [but hey its my teeth, lol] so I got braces...I thought about the Invisalign for awhile then I saw the price - almost $9,000 dollars for something you may or may not forget to put it, laziness. So I got the plastic pearl white braces with metal ones in the back. I noticed really quickly the changes [plus the pain] my gap was closed I jumped for joy - but I have to get a small oral surgery to cut the tissue that was between my teeth, the reason why it was a gap in the first place- $750. I also noticed that my teeth has gotten whiter - the lack of curry and other colored foods and candy that I liked.

I say go for it ... its not needed really, but neither is lipgloss lol. We dont need it we just want it for the results =]

OH YEAH YOUR FACIAL BONE STRUCTURE WILL CHANGE A BIT BECAUSE OF YOUR TEETH MOVING AROUND AND YOU MIGHT LOSE A COUPLE POUNDS [the fear of hard foods knocking off your expensive braces]
Reply:You should talk to your dentist and get a game plan. Tell him what you don't like about your teeth. He can then refer you to an orthodontist. Before you do that though, you should probably make sure you don't have any cavities or any problems that need taking care of. If you decide on braces, you should probably wait to whiten them until after treatment.

I'm doing Invisalign now. I know you're not a big fan of the dentist but who is? With Invisalign, it's nice because they'll give you your aligners, 3 or 4 sets of them and you wear each for 2 weeks. Then, you go back to the ortho so he can check to make sure everything is ok and you get your next set of aligners. There's no pain or anything involved with the trip to the ortho. It's just for him to check things. So, you're only seeing the ortho every 6-8 weeks.

Invisalign is usually more expensive but quicker. And braces might be your only choice if you have a big gap in those teeth. Plus, you're still young. Plenty of 16 year olds have braces. Get it done. You'll be thankful when you're 20 and have beautiful straight teeth.
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html

Is Invisalign...?

Is Invisalign ever (at least partially) covered by dental insurance?

Is Invisalign...?
it all depends on your dental coverage. If you have ortho coverage then it should cover at least a little of it. Most dental insurance usually cover 50% up to a certin dollar amount and certin age. Insurance can also downgrade invisalign. Best way to go about it contact a dentist and go in for a consult they are usually free of charge to see what they will charge you.
Reply:The orthodontist's office should be able to contact your insur. co. to get this answer. In general insur. often only covers a small portion of the cost of any ortho. treatment. You will have to make payment arrangements for the rest.

Is invisalign good for me?

i'm about 12 almost turning 13 and i have pretty straight teeth on the top but the bottem is like...well the front 2 is like shoved together and the right one is behind the other.that is the main change that i want to make.

i would like to know if it hurts and then you get used to it after a few days?

please only the people who wear invisalign to answer so i can get accurate answers.

Is invisalign good for me?
well, I dont have invisalign, but I am a dental professional and you need to know that they cant just change your bottom teeth...the top will need to be worked on as well or it will mess up your bite. as for invisalign...its something you would need to discuss with your dentist. I cant tell you if they would be good for you becuase I havent seen you or your teeth. you do need to know that they are very costly though as new ones need to be made every so often to accomodate the changes in your teeth. your best bet is to have a consult with your orthodontist to discuss your options. they can answer all your questions for you.

Can invisalign be used to correct crooked teeth?

My daughter has two twisted teeth in the bottom row of her mouth as well as a slight overbite. I know that invisalign can correct the overbite but can it correct the twisted teeth as well?

Can invisalign be used to correct crooked teeth?
Yes... I had invisalign for about a year and now my teeth are perfectly straight! I love invisalign, they are way better than braces ( i had braces when i was younger, but then my teeth became crooked again, so 2 years ago i got invisalign and now they are straight)
Reply:Yes, that's what it's for.
Reply:They work the same way as regular braces, they correct all the problems, overbite, crookedness, etc.
Reply:yes I have a crooked tooth now at the back of my mouth and it is being corrected with invisalign. It is best to check what the results can be with a dentist. You can find dentists close to you at invisalign.com

Does invisalign really work? or do i have to get regular braces first?

I have to get braces and i hate the look of them. My parents said they would buy me invisalign if the really worked and if u did have to get regular braces first. Please help cause i need to straighten my teeth for Modeling %26amp; Acting school! *^_^*

Does invisalign really work? or do i have to get regular braces first?
1. Invisalign does really work

2. You don't have to get regular braces first

3. Many models and actors have used Invisalign with great success

Some insurance companies will cover a small portion of your invisalign treatment, make sure to tell your parents about that! Could bring the cost down enough for them to let you try it!

Hope that helps!
Reply:well i did the regular braces and then got the invisalign retainers but the regular braces arent that bad, ask for the plastic brackets and rubberbands.
Reply:depends on how bad your teeth are....thats what they told me.

If its a MINOR thing like a lil gap in between ur fron teeth...then yea, it works.

But if yours is complicated like crowding, and gaps, and overbite, then NO...it will not work for those cases and the orthodontist will make u get braces instead sinc eu'll waste ALL ur money on invisalign and it wont do any good.

...but again..for something MINOR...then YES..go for it.
Reply:YES, INVISALIGN REALLY WORKS, BUT NOT FOR ALL CASES.

IT'S BEST TO BE CHECKED BY A QUALIFIED AND CERIFIED INVISALIGN DENTIST.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FUTURE CAREER. :-)
Reply:it works

Is Invisalign good for me????

Any thing you can tell me about Invisalign is good. How much would it cost? Does it really work on someone with a cross- bite? Is it avalible in Edmonton or St. Albert, Alberta, Canada? How can i get it? How old do you have to be to get it????... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Is Invisalign good for me????
Regarding age: all your permenent teeth must be present. Patient compliance is important for Invisalign since they can be taken off. If you don't wear them at least 22 hours per day, you will not have a successful result. Young teens tend to be less responsible - lose them at McDonalds, etc.

Call around for a dentist who is certified to do Invisalign. Orthodontists are not the only ones who can treat you - in fact some general dentists do a great job and charge way less than orthodontists.
Reply:These are very good questions, but the best way to get your answer is to consult a few local orthodontists!
Reply:it works pretty well, and i dont think age matters, but im not sure about locations of where you can get it.
Reply:you need to go to help we are in usa...and it seem also you are to far ahead
Reply:Check out this website it tells your everything about invisalign and you can type in your postal code and it will find the closest orthodontist to you that does it.

Does invisalign work on overbites and buck teeth?

My lil sister has really buck teeth in the front and she really wants to get invisalign.......

Does invisalign work on overbites and buck teeth?
Invisalign may provide some correction to your sister's overbite and protrusive teeth but perhaps not the best result could be achieved with the aligners.

Find an orthodontist who provides a no-cost consultation and find out for sure.

There are so many factors to your question to give you a definitive answer. Her overbite could be an overjet or a deepbite; the protrusion could be related to her skeletal development and not the teeth.

The consultation should provide all the answers you need to make an informed decision.

The commercials give the impression Invisalign will make traditional (metal) braces a thing of the past. I rarely say never, and won't now but I'm inclined to say, I believe that will not happen. They have limited application and optimal results can be achieved when indicated. A patient should not want a compromised result unless orthognathic surgery is indicated. That's another question/situation.

I believe a patient should get what they pay for and have their expectations met. A consultation will help clarify both.

You're sweet for looking after your "lil sister" as you are. All the best to you two!
Reply:Invisalign is for minor cases only. They cost more then regular braces. Ask your orthodontist if you qualify.
Reply:Invisalign will work, but it is more expensive. I have Invisalign and I had the same thing: Jet Bite with a gap in between the front teeth. Depending on the severity of the rest of her teeth, invisalign may not work. Check with your orthodontist, sometimes you can be put on a braces and invisalign combo - like me!

I cant decide between invisalign or real braces?

Im in 8th grade and although many people in my school have real braces my dad and dentist said that I could get invisalign. Does invisalign make your teeth look slimy? are they a hassle? can someone give me some info so I can decide?

I cant decide between invisalign or real braces?
Invisalign is for teens and adults. Check out the site for more info. Invisalign will cause you to speak with a lisp for a little while until you get used to talking with the piece in your mouth.

Practice will help with that.

Bonus of them mean eating without braces in the way, cleaning your teeth are easier. And you wont cut up your cheeks like with metal braces. (my little sis had to put wax on the metal since it was always cutting her mouth) But you will have to wear invisalign longer than traditional braces. It is easier, since there is no metal that you see.

I dont think your teeth look slimy with the piece in. again you'll get used to them and adjust the way you talk - you may not even be able to notice unless you are really close.

As long as you are responcible enough to not loose the piece, and remember to wear it most of the time (dont forget to wear them!). I say go for invisalign.
Reply:YOU ARE TOO YOUNG FOR INVISALIGN.
Reply:Dr. Albert is probably correct, although some explanation would have been helpful.

Invisalign is meant for people who have stopped growing. Also, it requires a high level of patient cooperation because the aligners can be removed at any time. If they are not worn at least 22 hours per day, treatment won't be successful. Young kids tend to lose the aligners when they take them out and put them on a napkin at McDonald's or the school lunchroom.

It will probably be your dentist or orthodontist who decides.
Reply:"real" braces really, really, really, really, really hurt, if you can use invisalign go for it!! I have an invisalign retainer and it isn't a hassle at all.
Reply:I think traditional is cool if you misplace or lose ur invisalign you can mess up your treatment...

Does invisalign cost more??

I dont wanna have metal braces in high school (im a freshmen)but i dont want my parents to pay more for invisalign. Does anyone know if they cost more then braces or how long they would take to straighten my teeth (my teeth are pretty straight there are just a couple of spaces. )?

Does invisalign cost more??
Yes, and I tried to do that also and my orthodontist wouldn't let me, you have to have the right kind of mouth/problems. So they're not for everybody no matter how they market it. Good luck though! If they were the same price, and anyone could use them...wouldn't everybody have them instead of metal braces?
Reply:The Invisalign price varies between $5800 and $7500 but often can be as low as $4000 based upon the difficulty of orthodontic treatment. Most adults require both upper and lower arch orthodontic treatment. These cases are often between $6200 and $6800.

Some adult cases just require minor tooth movements and the Invisalign braces price in these cases is often much less and as low as $4000. An Invisalign case can often be limited to the upper and lower front teeth. The cost and treatment time for these minor orthodontic cases is reduced.
Reply:get the metal braces then. i'm a junior with them and i don't get made fun of. in fact, i have a lot of friends and my social life is perfectly fine. get the braces and get it over with. you'll have them off next year if your teeth are fairly straight anyway. i wish i got mine freshman year. trust me, it's not as bad as you think.
Reply:Yes, they cost more, at least in my area.

Some friends of ours have three daughters who all need braces, and two of them really resisted the traditional metal ones. When they looked into cost, they found out that Invisalign costs anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 times as much as traditional braces. Also, many dental programs will not cover them, even if they offer orthodontic care in the benefits.

If you don't want a regular old "tin grin", you might find out if you can get the colored ones. In the last few years I have seen white, pink, orange, and light blue braces on people's teeth.

And just remember, braces are a really big deal if you have to have them, but almost everyone I know had them growing up, so it wasn't a big deal. It was just a rite of passage of sorts, and I kind of felt left out because I didn't need them.
Reply:I'm always surprised to read that people find Invisalign costs more than traditional braces. Where I live, Invisalign is consistantly lower cost.

General dentists who are certified to provide Invisalign treatment should charge less than orthodontists.

I live in a big city, and Invisalign starts at $2700 for a simple case. In my office, even an extensive case would not be more than $5000.

Can INVISALIGN Resolve severely CROWDED TEETH????

IF YOU'RE A DENTIST AND YOU HAVE SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS then I would greatly appreciate it. Since I'm a young adult and don't want to be in braces, could I go with the INVISALIGN to correct my teeth. Thank you and if you have any links or any more info on this, then please include it :)

Can INVISALIGN Resolve severely CROWDED TEETH????
Invisalign are not intended for severely crowded teeth. You would have to have the regular braces. I know that you don't want to have the regular braces but you should really think about how great your teeth are going to look. You will be so happy with the result that you are going to get. Good Luck with whatever treatment you decide to have done.
Reply:i had a similar problem and my orthodontist said no way "it's like trying to scotch tape bowling balls together" he meant that it doesnt secure them enough to make a major change
Reply:Consult with a dentist who is experienced with Invisalign. Many general dentists do a great job with it.

I've seen many cases of overcrowding that Invisalign handled beautifully. There are a few orthodontists who have been trained in "old school" band and bond and won't even consider an alternative.

Only a qualified provider can tell you if your case will be suitable for Invisalign.
Reply:I have been told that it is not one of the bast ways to straighten crowded teeth.

Can Invisalign be molded specifically for your teeth ?

Ok...my teeth are stacked (I have two doubles) because they were crowded when I was younger (I'm 15 now) and I never got treatment...so I was wondering if I could get Invisalign or are they strictly for people with straighter teeth ?

I would have to get braces right ?

Also, does anyone have a time table for someone that has doubles...how long would it take for the braces to come off ?

no jokes please..thanks.

Can Invisalign be molded specifically for your teeth ?
maybe braces for a while, then moving to invisalign. Invisalign is hella expensive, and I would go with braces if I were you, they work better anyway.
Reply:You can get invisalign right now. They are equal in price as braces. Invisalign is really cool technology. Mold are made of your teeth, and then using those molds a computer makes molds of what your teeth could look like at their best. Then a set of retainer like things are made to form fit your teeth and you trade them out every two weeks. Every other week you put on a new retainer that is closer and closer to what your teeth will look like in the end.
Reply:Invisalign Works by making molds of your teeth and each month putting in a new retainer that still has the same general shape of your teeth but only straighter. Eventually you will have staright teeth because each retainer moves your teeth a litte bit. But Invialign generally only corrects minor dental flaws. If you need major correct, braces would be the best way to go. If you got braces you would probably be in them for about 2 years.
Reply:you would have to wear braces for about 18 months. braces work better than the invisalign with the invisalign you have to have it changed evry 2 weeks with a brace you have to have it changed evry month or so also the invisalign takes longer it can take 2 years because its not as effective as braces.they are also about £6000.
Reply:Honestly, the only way to know if you are a good candidate for invisalign is to visit a dentist who offers it. The only way to know is to have a consultation with the dentist. We just recently started doing invisalign in my office, about a year and a few months ago and I love seeing the results. We have just recently finished a case on a lady and she loves her teeth, they were pretty crooked and overlapped and invisalign did wonders, they look great and she was only in it for a little over a year. I am going to do invisalign soon, I can't wait. Like I said, set up a consult with a dentist and go from there, he/she should explain eveything to you including the advantages and disadvantages of invisalign and/or braces. Good luck with whatever you decide.

By the way, Lauren123 does not know what she is talking about, the only person who can tell you approximately how long you will be in braces/invisalign is a dentist and sometimes even he/she miscalculates. And in U.S. dollars invisalign costs about $3000, about the same as regular braces.
Reply:I wore braces for about 18 months and the results were awesome. Now I have to wear an invisalign retainer and I'm telling you you must be a very disciplined person to keep these things in your mouth like the orthodontist tells you to. Thank god I only have to sleep in them now that way I'm not tempted to remove them. But definitely discuss what is right for you with your dentist or orthodontist.

Does invisalign give you a lisp?

im thinking about getting invisalign, but do they give you a lips when you talk??

Does invisalign give you a lisp?
no my friend got it and she didnt sound so different.

Do Invisalign braces work well?

My teeth aren't bad, I have a few that are a bit crooked or came in slightly twisted because there wasn't much room. Everyone says my teeth look fine, but they being twisted is a bit annoying and it bothers me. Do you think Invisalign would work okay for me? If you've had them before, I'd love a response.

Do Invisalign braces work well?
If your case is SUITABLE for Invisalign, it works wonderfully well - as long as you do your part and wear them (almost) 24/7. Any dentist doing Invisalign has to be certified to use them and should be capable of making the diagnosis of whether or not to use them. If Invisalign was suggested to you, then it should work for your case.

In my rural Mid-Atlantic general practice, I charge $3,000 for most Invisalign cases, which is less than traditional braces in most cases. I have heard that some charge more for Invisalign than they do for braces, though. The thing is, I am not a specialist and I choose to do only "easy" cases that will not require extra devices to be used in conjunction with Invisalign. This can add to the fee significantly.
Reply:Sure! I think you are a perfect candidate for invisilign, since your teeth aren't that "crooked" it will work well, it will be easier for you to get use to and the results are awesome, I assisted different patients with them and they loved it. You should consult your dentist or orthodontist to make sure you are eligible for it. and Good Luck!!
Reply:Sure- they are more expensive.

I still have "real" braces on the back of the teeth after 25 years.
Reply:Well if it's not particularly bad, you might not even need braces. There are much easier fixes that people don't realise, I remember I had a separation in my teeth as a child, between my two front teeth, so my mother had me wrap a small rubber band around it and the next morning it was gone.
Reply:Invisalign are more expensive then regular braces. Ask an orthodontist if they are right for you.
Reply:Yes, it works very well. You will like the results at the end of the treatment.

Do invisalign really work?

braces without the ugly metal mouth? does invisalign really work? would you recommend it?

Do invisalign really work?
Hi,

From what I know, Invisalign do not work as well as traditional metal braces. I know people who have had them on for years and their teeth are still not completely fixed.

I did not want a "metal mouth" so I found an alternative: ceramic braces. Up close they are barley visible and from a distance they are invisible. They work just as fast as metal braces. After three months, I can see a big difference.

My bottom braces are metal and I get painful canker sores. With the ceramic braces (on top), I have not gotten these. Ceramic braces are not much more expensive than regular braces and are definitely worth it.
Reply:I would recommend invisalign for my situation. I have a big gap to close and invisalign is real good at that.. But I have braces, and it's been like over a year and the gap still hasn't closed. But it really all depends on what you need done. Invisalign and braces both have different pros and cons.
Reply:yes they do and yes i would. not everyone is a canidate. some patients need conventional ortho first or surgery and then can get into the invisalign.
Reply:Invisalign works great. But it is not for severe cases.
Reply:my friend got invisalign and it seems to work well from the results so far.
Reply:I work for a dentist who does offer invisalign. As previously stated, its results are case by case. You will need to have an evaluation to see if you are a candidate. If you are, you will begin to see results in the first 3-4 weeks. A friend of mine had hers in 2 weeks and even though she was sore(from the teeth moving) she could tell a slight difference in the position of her teeth. I would recommend them---but, only if you are a candidate. Otherwise, you will not be satisfied. Also, you have to be determined to wear them all the time, even if your teeth are sore, you have to wear them or you are just wasting your $$!

What is The Overall PROCESS and Experience of Invisalign? Financially as well?

I am an 18 year old college student on a tight budget yet have been wanting to close my minor gaps for many years. I went to a dentist who offered to do OrthoClear for $4000 but OrthroClear was recently bought out during a lawsuit with invisalign, no longer and option.

I travelled to many other dentists and the lowest offer I got was $8000 for invisalign; too high for my small budget.

Luckly i contacted the dentist that offered my $4000 for the orthoclear and can perform invisalign for my minor corrections for $4,500. I will still call other offices to see if they can beat that price though this dentist is a good one so i'll most likely stick with him.

Can someone fill me in on the overall process I will have to undergo from the moment I step into the dentists office? Payment plans? (I dont have dental insurance) and such? Will it truly be $4500 or much more if there needs to be other exams and charges? I just dont wanna end up paying more. Thanks! Also the invisalign treatment.

After you have your impressions taken, they are scanned into a computer. A virtual model of your teeth is created in the computer. Very small movements are done on this virtual model. From this computer image, a real model of your teeth is made.

Some more very small movements are made on the virtual model, and so on. This keeps up until a whole series of thin plastic appliances is created to guide your teeth to the desired end position. The plastic is thin, but pretty strong. When it first goes in, it feels tight, because it is pressing on the places on your teeth where they have to move. After a few days, the tighness goes away and you know your teeth have moved. You change appliances every two weeks until your case is done.

Reply:What I know about Invisalign is it is only for certain people. You have to meet certain criteria in order to be able to have it. My dentist priced me for about 3,000. I would have also had to pay 1/2 down on the 1st visit %26amp; the other 1/2 could be made through payments. Price also depends on how many sessions you will have to go through. Sessions typically run 2 weeks at a time in which you change to a new set of invisalign inserts. The more sessions = more $$$$. I am sure you can go in to your dentist and get a console that wouldn't cost much %26amp; he would be able to tell you if you qualify for Invisalign %26amp; how much too.
Reply:The office will take impressions of your teeth, which is a putty like material that firms up around your teeth within a few minutes, they pour up the impression in stone, they send it to a lab along with either an email, or disc describing in great detail what you want done, most offices can show you on the computer what your smile can look like on the monitor. So once the lab gets your models they make firm plastic trays to go over your teeth, you switch out your trays every month or two, maybe weeks depending on what you need. You may go through a series of 6 or more different sets of trays, and take more impressions each visit. So you will need multiple visits, which shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, depending on how chatty the assistant or dentist is. They will bond these pieces on your teeth...I forget what these are for. That process is similar to a filling without having your tooth drilled on. I hear your teeth hurt, ache alot, feels weird to eat. My friend shouldn't do this but he eats with his trays on, because he says it doesn't hurt as much. But his teeth are stained, and nasty looking cause food gets stuck in his tray. As far as cost it depends on how much movement you need, and time involved. I've heard quotes as low as $4500. As far as qualified patients for invisalign it sounds like you are since someone quoted you $8000, but anyway from what I've heard, you cannot have too many crooked and crowded teeth, If you only have a few spaces here and there, Your arch is too wide or narrow, or the edges of your teeth jet out more than you like...are considered minor adjustments that I THINK, may be able to be corrected, from what I've heard.
Reply:YOU FIRST HAVE TO BE CONSULTED BY A DENTIST WHO IS CERTIFIED TO DO INVISALIGN. THE PRICE OF $8000 IS WAY TOO HIGH FOR TAKING TWO IMPRESSIONS OF YOUR MOUTH AND SOME X-RAYS. THE ADVANTAGE OF INVISALIGN IS THAT YOU CAN REMOVE THEM BEFORE YOU EAT, AND YOU CAN EASILY FLOSS, MORE TIME CONSUMING WITH TRADITIONAL BRACES. THE IMPRESSIONS THAT WERE TAKEN ARE SENT TO A LAB WHICH FABRICATES THE ALIGNERS WHICH ARE CHANGES ABOUT EVERY 3 WEEKS. THE RESULTS FOR MOST PEOPLE ARE ABOUT 1 YEAR OF TREATMENT OR LESS. BE PREPARED ON THE FIRST DAY TO HAVE RECORDSTOBE TAKEN. ANY DENTAL PROCEDURES MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE INVISALIGN IS DONE. THE DENTAL OFFICE MUST PAY THE LAB IN FULL BEFORE THE ALIGNERS ARE SENT TO HIM. THE COST LAST TIME I CHECKED WAS ABOUT $1,300 JUST IN LAB FEES. THIS EXPLAINS WHY IT COSTS SO MUCH. TRADITIONAL BRACES ARE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE, AND CAN TAKE A LONGER TIMETO COMPLETE.

Is invisalign affective? Are they expensive (can you make monthly payments?

My teeth are all in pretty good shape but the two teeth to the sides of my front two teeth are pushed back. I would think a molded piece such as invisalign can effectively put those two teeth back where they belong better then regular metal braces. (Plus they look better then the regular braces) Has anyone used this product? And are they expensive?

Is invisalign affective? Are they expensive (can you make monthly payments?
I had them for about a year, and if I remember correctly it cost about $1800. But yes, they broke it into monthly payments and they worked great. A much better experience than the braces I had as a kid !
Reply:my friend has it and she seems to like it but, it is more expensive, and can take longer than braces.

braces are more effective and work faster and can get ur teeth perfecto!

go to ur orthodontist for a check up and they will decide wat is best for u

some down's on invisalign:

they look weird

ewwww u have to take them out EVERYTIME u eat

and u can't chew gum
Reply:Invisalign may cost less than regular braces. Check around with general dentists who are well qualified.

If your case is suitable, you will get great results. Only a dentist will tell you what can work for you. Most offices take payments (after a substantial down-payment.)

You will get some good and some terrible advice on here. Please, go to a professional for a consultation.

Braces , damon's or invisalign?

I was at an orthodontist who left me in excruciating pain I left to go to another orthodontist who's son goes to my school . They pulled two more teeth out and then they put tight wires and elastics afertwords and said it was to help my cross-bite(the extraction) but it made it worse they say they can't do damon or invisalign and i have to get a bunch of other things done after that . They said my teeth would look perfect but I saw someone else who got there braces done and completed and there's didn't look good . Do you think I can get invisalign or damon . I have a cross-bite,overbite,not straightened teeth and crowded teeth p.s. my teeth looked better before and I am in excruciating pain when I go there they are nice mind you but they say damon wont work)

Braces , damon's or invisalign?
invisalign only works if you need minor movement...your case is too involved
Reply:you could get inspire ice marbe or even speed braces but not ivisalignthey wont work they probly said no damons cause they dont stock them lol

Does Invisalign work?

I have 2 crooked front teeth next to my 2 front teeth, does anybody know if Invisalign will work?

Does Invisalign work?
It's so damn expensive, it better work.
Reply:Ask Miley Cyrus, that little **** uses them and they make her voice sound weird, in addition to her hicky Tennessee southern accent.
Reply:welllll the short answer is "probably" ....the long answer is: maybe, but with conditions. if it's just some mild crowding , invisalign is pretty good; if it's more severe it won't work as well, in my opinion...also, there's some controversy over whether the results are as long term as conventional braces. pretty much ANY orthodontic changes will require long term retainer use , as teeth really want to go BACK to whereever they were....

you'll have to ask an orthodontist to be sure; they'll need models of your teeth and to take a good look at them to assess the prognosis of invisalign or whatever.

good luck!
Reply:Invisalign has come a long way in the last few years, and can fix most problems. That being said, you would have to check with an orthodontist whether or not they can do the work with invisalign. Check out their website and find a dentist in your area that does a lot of work with it, as the more complicated the treatment will be, the more experience you want them to have. If it is just the two front teeth that are the major concern, then they are probably able to do it, as crowding is a fairly common and simple orthodontic problem to fix

Does invisalign really work? How well?

I'm looking into invisalign. My teeth arent too bad just some minor crowding. I was wondering if anyones ever used invisalige. How noticeable is it really and how well does it work?

Does invisalign really work? How well?
I used Invisalign. And it was fine. I only needed a minor adjustment. I went in and they changed them about every 4 to 6 weeks. I only had to use mine for 6 months, with great results. And they are barely visible. Most people didn't even notice mine unless they knew I had them. They can be kind of expensive. But to me it was worth it. Good Luck.
Reply:Yes i can never notice it
Reply:I can notice, but only up close. The teethe have a slight line across the top portion and the space between the teeth look odd. According to the commercials they work great even for the worst teeth. If you get normal braces it will be worth it, but for your teeth invisalign sound like a better choice. Good luck! Have fun with your new smile!! :)
Reply:yes, they do work but I have heard that in the longrun they are not as good and they cost more. They also are bigger than metal braces.

Good luck with whatvever choice you make!!!

Are invisalign made and suitible for 13 year olds?Everyone I know who has braces has metal.I hate those.?

Im 13 and everyone I know who has braces have the old skool metal ones, sick!!!.I was looking up invisalign on its main site and on Wikipedia and said,I wish I could get those, and theres more than enough specialists in my area.

Do they make them for 13year olds?

Are invisalign made and suitible for 13 year olds?Everyone I know who has braces has metal.I hate those.?
actually, invisalign arent good for teens..your teeth are still moving..my daughter just finished with braces, and you would never have known that she had the metal ones..the type she chose were gold braces, and instead of metal wire tieing the braces on, she had colored rubber bands..it actually looked pretty cool..she would change the colors everytime she went in..she was pretty nervous that people would laugh at her or something, but when she would go to school, the kids thought they were cool looking..just a thought..oh and by the way, she just turned 13 in oct..
Reply:I always thought braces were a status symbol. You should be glad that you are getting help.
Reply:Yes, since they mold them to your teeth, it doesn't really matter your age.

However, Invisalign braces look extremely awkward on people. Since they sit over your teeth, it's obvious that you have them on and you can see the thick layer of plastic on your teeth. And if you didn't brush your teeth perfectly or if you have something stuck in between, the plastic makes it obvious. It also gives you a lisp and forces your tongue to move awkwardly when you speak, especially if you wear them on the top AND bottom. They might even cut your mouth.

When I had my braces they were metal, but the retainers I had to wear were Invisalign. I absolutely HATED them!! They're uncomfortable, look weird, make you talk funny, cut my mouth up, and were a pain to clean. I stopped wearing them eventually because they pissed me off so much.

If you want them--think about it carefully!! They always seem like a great idea but look at all the negatives that they don't point out in the brochure. Because after having them, I can't stand them!!!

Can Invisalign useful for malocclusion? My teeth are about 7mm overjet?

I would really like to know what Invisalign can and can't do, thanks.

Can Invisalign useful for malocclusion? My teeth are about 7mm overjet?
i had my teeth straightened, my teeth were about 5mm out and invisalign wouldnt ave worked so i had a fixed brace put on, i had it in for 18 months and hardly noticed!!! it is tightened every 6 weeks and the bands are changed so they stay white, ive had it off for 6 months and it was the best decision i ever made!!!
Reply:I went in for consultation for Invisalign when I was going to get braces. Invisalign is for minor problems in teeth. I don't think it would be best for you. The traditional metal braces are much more reliable than invisalign. Go with the metal ones. Invisalign only fixes minor spacing and gaps.
Reply:Invisialign are more for mild correction. They lack the ability to radically change the bite. If your teeth were just crooked they could straighten them. Your Orthodontist offices staff could best tell you what would be the best braces to put on. I had a bite problem and went with white porcelin braces on top and metal on the bottom. They needed alot of force to change them but this combination didnt look bad and worked out real well.

Does invisalign work?

Does invisalign work? How much is it compared to braces? I need to get my teeth straightened but dint want the pain of braces and the look. :l How old do you have to be I saw online 13 was the youngest. If I put up pics. of my teeth could you tell me if they would work?

Does invisalign work?
Invisalign does work. But it may not work for you. The dentist I work for is not an orthodontist but is certified in Invisalign. He charges the same price for the invisalign at regular braces. Usually the cost is 1000-2000+ more than traditional braces. Invisalign works to straighten the teeth but not fixing the patient's bite. Your teeth will still hurt from being moved, but you will not have the sores in your cheeks that accompany brackets. These sores are usually only present for the first 10 or so days. After that the sores that you get in your cheeks are about the same as what you get right now. (assuming the doctor properly trims the wires) You will need to have all of your adult teeth in your mouth fully erupted to have invisalign. I have seen 9 yr olds with all adult teeth and 15 yr olds with some remaining baby teeth. Traditional braces are kind of an "in" fad right now - More Bling! I am an adult currently in braces, and I chose traditional braces, because Invisalign wouldn't correct what I wanted corrected - my bite. If you are going to take the time and spend the money I suggest you go with traditional braces and get everything fixed.
Reply:My mum uses invisalign and I've only heard good reports about it! I recommend that you get your dentist's opinion first though.

Any Invisalign certified orthodontists out there?

I am an orthodontist, and I am having a problem with Invisalign right now. They claim that they have no record of my certification, which occurred during my residency. Any experience with this?

Any Invisalign certified orthodontists out there?
WELL DOCTOR, AS ONE DENTIST TO ANOTHER YOU MAY WISH TO IMPROVE YOUR RECORD-KEEPING. AT OVER $1000 FOR THE COURSE, IT'S EXPENSIVE TO LOSE. AUDIT THE COUSE AGAIN.

Can invisalign actually cause damage to your teeth?

so, i have to get braces and i told my dad about invisalign and he said that they wouldnt put those on a kid's mouth cause they can hurt the kid's teeth if they like accidently shut their teeth together. Is this true or is my dad full of crap?

Can invisalign actually cause damage to your teeth?
Full of crap, but invisalign is much more expensive and only works on very slight problems, Not for most people. If you have more than just slight crowding (generalized crowding, overlapping of teeth, turned teeth, out of alignment teeth, overbite, underbite, crossbite, etc) invisalign isn't right for you. Also, it will take longer.
Reply:They usually don't give invisalign to kids because it requires too much in terms of compliance. You need to really be on top of your treatment and wear the aligners almost all the time. Kids will likely lose the aligner and treatment will never move forward. It's expensive and cannot handle the full range of movements likely required.

Can Invisalign correct or improve deep overbites?

I have found contradictory information regarding this query - some say that they can (dentists) and some say they can't (also dentists). I don't want braces and money isn't a problem. I don't mind if it only improves half of the overbite. If invisalign can't help - is there any other options?

Can Invisalign correct or improve deep overbites?
Metallic braces are more effective than Invisalign for overbites
Reply:To correct an overbite you need to wear elastics to pull the teeth into place, or in severe cases, surgery. You can't wear elastics with Invisalign. It would definitely straighten your teeth, but couldn't do much or anything for your overbite.

Swtich from braces to invisalign?

is it too late to switch from braces to invisalign? i got braces today put just the brackets no wires...will i be able to get invisalign before i get the wires in?

Swtich from braces to invisalign?
No.

At this point just go with the braces. Chances are you are young, and honestly most orthodontists want you to try to braces first anyway. Invisalign is expensive, and it doesn't work for everyone. If you have some major issues going on, braces are the way to go.
Reply:braces do a better job than invisilign. keep them on, it will get better
Reply:they should of made a mold of your mouth before braces for a before and then you will have one after. get the bracketts off and you can still do it. invested money/downpayment may not refund
Reply:Braces work much better than invisalign. You are only 17, it's ok if you have metal braces. However I don't think it's too late to remove the brackets. You can opt for the clear ones instead of invisalign. They are almost as invisible.

New invisalign?

has anyone heard of the new invisalign orthodontic treatment which they say will only take between 1 and 4 months to complete? any info?

New invisalign?
I worked for an Orthodontist and the criteria you have to meet for the Invisalign System is strict. It is worth a try to see if you qualify. Good luck. I have seen some good results with this but it is a system you have to be committed to.

Will invisalign work for more serious cases of crooked teeth?

It says it will on the website, but will it really? I had braces for a little over a year before but didn't wear a retainer and therefore three of my teeth are very crooked and misaligned now (the rest are ok). I want to do something about this now to get the problem fixed. I REALLY don't want metal braces, they're just incredibley embarassing. Will invisalign work for serious cases? I don't care about the duration, just as long as it works. Let me know.

Will invisalign work for more serious cases of crooked teeth?
I had a very minimal problem with my teeth when I got invisalign...The dentist told me I was a good candidate for it %26amp; we started the treatment %26amp; I paid $5000...

6 months later I was told I was done, told to use my last tray as a retainer (which was gross after liek 3 months)

When I had my Invisalign off, by the end of the day, my gaps returned. Now a year later, my teeth are just as they were before I started, I would not reccomend Invisalign to anyone!
Reply:my daughters dentist said it was not an option for her because her teeth were too crooked so i would say no.
Reply:invisalign will not owrk for crooked teeth if there serious! i just got braces yesturday and it didnt hurt at all but i talked to my dentist about getting invisalign and he told me that there was no way it could help my teeth and he told me that it was only used for already straight teeth! glad to help!
Reply:Invisalign is for minor cases only. Plus, Invisalign costs more then regular braces.
Reply:Invisalign does not always cost more than regular braces. This is a myth.

"Serious" cases can be done with Invisalign. Only an experience Invisalign provider can make this decision.

I have personally seen it give excellent results with even complex cases, but not every dentist has the same experience and may tell you, "your case won't work with Invisalign" simply because they don't know how to get the results.

Find a qualified dentist who has years of experience with Invisalign and go in for a consultation.

Most general dentists charge LESS for Invisalign than orthodontists charge for braces.
Reply:my ortho says it doesnt. he made me get normal braces. he said that i'd have to have invisalign TWICE as long...so 6 years instead of 3?! no thanks. mine are off now and my teeth are gorgeous. so stick with the metal!

Will Invisalign correct your facial profile?

I was wondering if Invisalign can correct a facial profile, or just regular traditional braces? Also, can veneers improve a facial profile? Thanks!

Will Invisalign correct your facial profile?
niether can really change ypur profile maybe veneers can make your upper lip stick out a little if thier real thick
Reply:It will straighten crooked teeth. Veneers make your teeth look nice.

Is invisalign for me?

My teeth are like this http://www.brightbraces.com/images/brace... the one on the bottom picture but its on the top can i still get invisalign my dentist said i can but i can't depend on it but she doesn't have her orthodontist license anyway but it is?

Is invisalign for me?
everyone can get invisalign, but it really depends on what results you want. For exaple if you just want your teeth straight, invisalign is great. But if you have a deep over bite or under bite, invisalign will NOT fix those problems (are you a tongue thruster or is the dentsit trying to expand your palate-- it looks like you have some sort of appliance) but it looks like you need a lot of rotaion on your lower teeth so it is best with traditional braces. Orthodontist give free consults, get an appointment with an orthodontist that does both traditional braces and invisalign. Hope for the best for you!
Reply:I have worked in 3 different offices that does Invisalign and I have had Invisalign myself. If the dentist is not an orthodontist, it is still okay. The dentist had to go to special training to become certified to do Invisalign in her office. The way it works is they will do a diagnostic workup with impressions, photos, etc. They send all of this to Invisalign where everything is loaded into a computer. The Invisalign tray system is computer generated with an end result in mind. If the dentist does anything wrong, the computer won't be able to generate the trays. It is kind of foolproof. If you do not have confidence in your dentist, go to an orthodontist who does Invisalign and get a second opinion. Orthodontic consults are usually free. Also, not all dentists charge the same fees for the Invisalign. You may be able to save money. FYI== there are not many people who get braces on only the top or only the bottom, and have the end result be perfect. I would definitely get a second opinion.

QUESTON about braces and invisalign?

ok. kinda weird story. i had braces for about two years. but then i got a modeling job and needed my top ones off kinda early. so they took the top off, and gave me invisalign. i was already finished with braces already, but i needed to fix my overbite. and they glued button type things to my top teeth so i could hook rubberbands in with my invisalign in. confusing, i know.

So....i have been wearing it for a while. only because once i fix my overbite, it flares right back out because i have a tounge thrust. would i need to put braces back on to fix my tounge thrust?

QUESTON about braces and invisalign?
you can get a special retainer that has a tounge guard (that is on the top of your mouth) and when you wear that you learn not to thrust you tounge

Has anyone ever started Invisalign treatment and quit?

I started Invisalign treatment yesterday and I have been miserable! I called my dentist and told her I didn't want to do it anymore. I was only supposed to have four months treatment because I have minor imperfections, but I don't think I can do it. Did anyone else start Invisalign and quit? Knowing I am not the only one would make me feel a lot better!

Has anyone ever started Invisalign treatment and quit?
No i never looked about the treatment the do with me . I please for you to stand up for your self . Go on you good thing LOL .
Reply:I have not come across any who abandoned Invisalign. It looks your aligners are not properly done or you are extra sensitive. One can experience little discomfort for the first few days with any type of braces. Be happy the way your teeth are.
Reply:Seriously, if you can get out of it and switch to regular braces! I have had them for 2 years (although i was suppose to have them only for 8 months), they are annoying and don't really seem to work well. They don't really hurt though. I have had a horrible experience with Invisalign and would suggest that no one gets them unless and its very minor corrections. (requires no rotating, moving down etc). I have had two diff dentists for them (since I moved for college), both have not been much help. After struggling with them for 2 years, I believe I seriously know more about them than my ortho+dentist. It depends on each different case and I wish they would take my seriously and realize that I need more attachments, etc. I am going to file a complaint for it veryyy soon, if my teeth aren't fixed for the 4th time!

Does Invisalign cause speech problems?

I read the FAQ on their website, but would like to hear from people who have actually used Invisalign. I'm getting it in January. I had a corrective retainer around 10 years ago that I never could stop lisping with (wore it 24/7 for 8 months and then nights thereafter). I have some crowding and a deep bite. Thanks.

Does Invisalign cause speech problems?
I've never actually worn the aligners, but I've talked with many people who have treatment in our dental practice.

The process of speech involves the tongue and teeth. When your teeth (especially front teeth) change even a little, it will affect the way sounds are made.

It's temporary. Patients who read aloud for half an hour or so each night find the changes go away within a few days or less.
Reply:I think it can at first but goes away in time.
Reply:You get used to it very quickly. My receptionist and hygienist both had Invisalign and they wore them to work all the time. Even when talking on the phone, nobody could tell they were wearing the appliances.

Starting Invisalign?

I'm about to begin Invisalign treatment. I go and get the impressions in a couple weeks. I'm doing top and bottom teeth. And I got 8 months of it. Is it a real pain in the ***? Do people notice you have the trays in? Is there a chance of my teeth becoming loose from it and how often does that happen? And how long before you notice a difference in your teeth? Sorry about all the questions. Just curious...

Starting Invisalign?
Im almost done with my 28 weeks...when you first put in the tray your teeth will be sore...no pain no gain. The results really are remarkable, they truly do work. Every tray you go through u will see an improvment. My teeth never were loose and ive never heard of that happening. Also no one has ever noticed my trays although I only have them on the bottom and my gums pretty much cover them up.
Reply:My mom had them and it did wonders for her very very mal aligned teeth. She had only a slight change in her speech but you really didn't notice them unless you knew it was there. Her teeth moved pretty quickly (and she was 60 years old)
Reply:I have braces, but my older sister has Invisalign and you can barely notice it. Her teeth weren't really bad when she got them, but they make such a difference. I can tell her teeth are moving correctly. It might take a couple weeks to 2 months to see a bit of a change, though I am not too sure. But honestly, you can't even tell %26amp; there isn't too much pain like braces.

Good luck! :D
Reply:my friend had invisalign and he liked it. you can't really tell they're in unless you look and they seem pretty comfortable. the thing is that you have to take them out before you eat....otherwise, they dont seem so bad.
Reply:It's pretty amazing you'll get impressions then the trays in 1month at 1st their a pain but u get used to it and u will c results n 2-3mo just stick with it and comply its better the old school braces and teeth wont get loose from it P.s. take advil right before appt of fitting and when they do reductions it helps :)
Reply:I've had invisalign. It hurts for a little while just like if you get braces put on. Just take some aspirin and you will be fine.

I never had anyone say they noticed it.

The only pain is if you go out to eat and you have to take them out it's really gross.
Reply:I agree withthe answers below but please make sure that you all wear the reatainers every night when you go to bed for the rest of your life.

It is alot to go through. Teeth have memory and will find their way back.

Will Invisalign fix a crossbite?

I had braces for 2 years in middle school and I am now 23 and my teeth have shifted a little and I now have a cross bite. Do you think invisalign will be able to fix this or will I need metal braces?

Will Invisalign fix a crossbite?
YOU NEED TO CONSULT A DENTIST CERTIFIED IN INVISALIGN.
Reply:metal braces, will pretty much do it!

well i hope it goes alright!

Does Metlife Dental cover Invisalign?

I would like to get Invisalign, but I'm on a tight budget, and my employer offers Metlife Dental, I don't know much about them compared to Delta Dental, but has anyone had Invisalign covered by Metlife Dental?

Does Metlife Dental cover Invisalign?
I would talk to your HR department. The services covered by any healthcare plan are specific to the policy your company has. So just because another person had it covered by Metlife doesn't mean yours would be (or vice versa).
Reply:DO NOT GET ON METLIFE DENTAL!!!

I got signed on to MetLife on Jan. 1 of this year. I pay over $48.00 per month. I went and had a filling that cost $182. MetLife only paid $42. and I had to pay the rest. I tried to cancel my policy since I have to pay most of my dental bill anyway and I was told I cannot cancel for one year. It's a ripoff!!!!
Reply:Everybody's policy is different, so what might be covered for one person, might not be covered for another, it varies by plan (and by company).

I would suggest calling Metlife and asking.
Reply:Do not blame MetLife if your insurance coverage stinks - blame the employer who picked the benefit level.

MetLife offers many different plans, some which have an orthodontic benefit. If you have ortho, it will cover Invisalign exactly the same way it would cover regular metal braces.

When your employer buys benefits for employees, they pick and choose from a variety of options - prescription drugs, preventative care, deductibles, etc. The more they pay, the more coverage you get.

It's not really the insurance company's decision, although some of them are easier to work with, from the provider's perspective.
Reply:CHI,

INVISALIGN IS ONLY 1 TYPE TO DO ORTHODONTICS. WHAT YOU REALLY SHOULD BE ASKING IS WHAT % OF THE TOTAL BILL WOULD THE INSURANCE COVER?

THE BILL FOR INVISALIGN IS EXPENSIVE UP FRONT, SO YOU MAY NEED TO PAY $1,500 - $1,800 JUST TO BEGIN INVIALIGN. THE SAME WON'T BE TRUE FOR TRADITIONAL BRACES.

IF YOUR ON A TIGHT BUDGET INVISALIGN MAY NOT BE YOUR CHOICE.

Would Invisalign work for me?

So I'm 14 %26amp; today I found out I need braces. My dentist said that my teeth are one of the easiest cases to fix because they are really pretty straight except for one canine on the top is a little turned and may rotate more and my bottom front ones are kind of misaligned. He actually gave me the option of not getting braces, but since he said my teeth may start getting worse in my mid-20's thru 30's, I want to just get em over with.

My mouth is not crowded [I have plenty of extra room], my bite is fine, the only problem is the misalignment which is not even that noticable. But I will most likely need braces for 14-18 months anyways to fully correct this - and I'm going to highschool next year! =(

I really don't want standard metal braces, so would I be a good canidate for those Invisalign braces? I checked out the site but it didn't give me much info. Any advice?

Thanks.

♥ Clare.

Would Invisalign work for me?
it sounds like it, invisalign is all good for minor cases and as you dont need much movement i think it will be good for you,

but remember u have to be very commited to invisalign as u can take it in and out and its so easy to think oh i leave it out tonight, and thats not good,

i speak from experience

Any insurance advice for Invisalign?

I'm trying to get Invisalign for my teeth but I dont have any dental insurance. I'm about to be 21 in 2 months, does anyone know of any insurance that covers invisalign and isn't a ridiculous amount to pay per month or something (i dont entirely understand how it works...)

Any insurance advice for Invisalign?
I don't know of any insurances, but you should see an orthodontist. Most offer free consultations and you can arrange monthly payments to pay for services. Hope this helps.
Reply:You cannot buy insurance for something you know you are going to do. Insurance - by nature - is a risk sharing plan for something that MIGHT happen, such as a fire or flood.

It is not reasonable to give an insurance company $1000 and expect them to pay $2000 towards Invisalign or any other treatment you are planning to get. Why would they?

Can invisalign help my fangs???

Anyone know what the average price for invisalign is in Australia? I know it varies considerably but any info would help. I only require it for my top teeth - my front teeth are pushed back a little and my fangs stick out.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Can invisalign help my fangs???
the answer is Yes! Yes! Visiline can help, but only to a certain extent. while it is effective in alligning the teeth, which intern enhances them cosmetically, it does not alter the shape of your teeth in any way. To do that, you need to consult your dentist and enquire about getting caps or vaneers. however, there is some cost involved, but most dentist will work a payment plan out with you. maybe, just pulling your two front teeth out further will do the trick without needing anything else . Say, you're not related to any vampires are you!!!
Reply:I had them they costed $5000 In the US but my insurance covered half of it....go to ur dentist and they should be able to tell u the exact price but yes it does very....and I had them for 2 years and im not really happy with the result so im just going to end up getting the METAL braces since they work much better...

Invisalign help.?

I just had a question for anyone using the Invisalign straighteners.Do you have to have wisdom teeth pulled before you are able to use the Invisalign straighteners? How about any other teeth to make room for the straightening? Any information about Invisalign would be greatly appreciated. Price, tips, any info. Thanks!

Invisalign help.?
It depends on you if your dentists decides that you need to make space to move some teeth over the first choice is to pull out your wisdom teeth but only if you need the space it isn't obligatory. I had to get all four of them taken out before i got my invisalign but only because i really needed space. I had to wear them for two years and they worked great ! I really recommend them. I changed the retainers once every two weeks and I had 19 sets. At the beggining they were really uncomfortable but once you get used to them you don't even notice they are there ! I had to pay 3,000 dollars for the whole thing but it was well worth it. they are hygenetic and really effective much better than braces.
Reply:You have to be a candidate to get Invaslign, so you can't assume Invisalign is for you until you talk to your dentist about it. Also, conventional braces work best for most people with malocclusion, and generally provide better results than Invisalign.

As far as teeth being extracted for an Orthodontics treatment, it's not common for Invisalign cases, because Invisaligh works for small adjustments in your teeth (closing small spaces, straightening a tooth or two, etc). Extractions are common for what dentists call crowded arch, when there is not enough room for orthodontics to work. The most common teeth to extract are wisdom teeth, because we don't need them as much as other teeth in our mouth. In some cases, other teeth might be extracted to get better outcome.

Invisalign are slightly more expensive than traditional braces, $7000 versus $5000 (these prices vary from a dental office in your area to another).

Good luck
