I have braces (and have had them for almost 8 months), but it's come to the point where they're seriously affecting my self esteem. I can't smile, laugh, eat, or even look at myself in the mirror without feeling ugly and self conscious. I'm considering very seriously about just taking them off...but what about invisalign? does it work? will I have to start my treatment all over again or will the eight months of my treatment now apply? how much does it cost (in the Netherlands or in the US)? Any advice, please.

Invisalign does work, but bear in mind that there are limitations.
go for a consult (need Panoramic X-rays, intra-oral, extra-oral pictures and dental impression needed. ask a dentist who do Invisalign. He/she can tell you.
