Invisalign is not working for me. What are my options?

I have had them for about 2 years. I was told it would only take 8 months but they just don't seem to work! I wear them regularly.I have moved and changed from dentist to ortho, still not working! My first doc put buttons on it which helped a little but not much. My current ortho said it will work without buttons but i highly doubt it will. Since I was misdiagnosed, does any know what my options are and if invisalign or the doctor should refund my $5000?? Thanks!

You say you wear them regularly? They should be worn all of the time with the "only exception" being when your eating or brushing and flossing. No, your money shouldn't be refunded if you haven't worn them correctly. If your condition was misdiagnosed? By who? Your doctor just takes the impression and sends it to Invisalign, they diagnosis and determine if your a candidate for their product. They are the one's who make the trays that you keep changing with. Are you changing trays correctly, and how many time have you changed trays? It sounds to me like you either don't have the Invisalign's product, or your not following the instructions of your dentist. Changing dentist won't help if this is the case. Good luck!
Reply:My brother also tried Invisalign - did not work. He had to get regular metal braces after.

I think someone should refund your money. It's unfair that so many people are being duped and tricked into paying for a product that doesn't work! If you can't get anywhere with Invisalign or your doctor, I'd file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Reply:I had invisalign and it worked well. My teeth were pretty bad, like monster teeth.

During your consult the doctor should of told you the outcome you can expect, usually a percentage for example 98% correction. If you did not get this you need to get your money back or at least some credit towards a new treatment.

By the way, I had buttons on the top and the bottom, I think a total of 14. Make sure you go to a good Ortho who has a lot of experience with invisalign. Invisilign can handle really complex cases but they need to be done by someone with experience.
Reply:First of all, you need to talk to your orthodontist and tell him that you are not happy with your results. You also need to read your contract and see what it says about re-treatment or refund.

Sometimes Invisalign patients do wind up in regular braces. If you come to our message board, you can hook up with other adults who have been in your situation and get some ideas regarding how to proceed. Many of our readers wear Invisalign, or did Invisalign before getting regular braces for a while.
