Braces or invisalign?

well i am 17 years old and i am thinking about getting my teeth fixed! the only problem is that my front two teeth need work. the rest of my teeth are fine and straight. would it be better to just get braces instead of invisalign? if i get braces how long will they be put in and how much would they cost? and if i get invisalign in how long will they be put in and how much would they cost? another thing is that our family's insurance isnt that well so would they pay for any of the treatments??

Braces or invisalign?
I spent years in braces, had a lot of experience with all kinds of metal in my mouth (Braces, headgear, jaw operation questions? I’m your man!).

Metal braces is the answer, it’s not even a consideration.

1) Purely financial is the best reasons. You can expect to pay 3-4 times more for invisalign, and most insurance companies don’t cover invisalign

2) Metal Braces can be finely “tuned” to give you a perfect smile (not that it was imperfect to begin with!). Invisalign is a lot more “rough around the edges” and its not a perfect technique. Metal braces will give you the perfect result.

3) Unless you are super-trooper, Invisalign is almost impossible to 100% comply with. You have to take them out to eat, and then brush, and put them back. Then you “forget” to put them back, and at first it’s a few minutes, then a few hours, and you may go for weeks without wearing your invisaligns. Metal braces are in and stay in, no questions, no debate, no forgetting.

4) As a result of no 4 – metal braces goes quicker. If you forget to wear your elastics, the results aren’t as damaging as forgetting to wear the invisalign.

5) Metal braces does NOT hurt more. It hurts, lets not lie, but not nearly as bad as some people make you believe they do. But you get used to them – once! Invisalign is a lot more “getting used to” to go though, and they are always awkward in your mouth.

My educated two cents is that invisalign is an expensive gimmick towards the vain and egotistic, and should not be considered serious treatment.

Go metal, they work better, faster, cheaper, and they look real cool if you have the right attitude! If you are concerned about the looks of it – well, don’t. If someone rates you as “cool” or a “fool” because of your braces or lack thereof, they aren’t people worth knowing anyway. On the social scene, braces are great as “a$$hole detectors”!
Reply:I was debating the same thing %26amp; i've decided to get normal metal braces.

I've seen 2 orthodontists and both agree %26amp; said:

you wont get the same results %26amp; are not guaranteed perfect teeth.

invisaligns are WAY more expensive

and braces will come off sooner and give you the results you want.

To put it into perspective: invisaligns-$6800. braces-$3000

the choice was easy for me!
Reply:invisalign isn't noticeable and a lot less painful..BUT they aren't going to give you perfect [or almost perfect] teeth, which braces will.

if you don't mind some flaws go for invisalign if not go for braces, which btw are super painful when put on and tightened.

but invisalign is a lot more expensive.

good luck %26lt;3

Orthodontists Help? Invisalign or any other affordable option for the look im going to achieve? OrthoClear?

I'm an 18 year old male and have been looking into Invisalign. I was told today that it would cost $7000 for me to have them done. I believe the dentist was trying to rip me off. I would need only very minor work such as closing a very small gap, a small touch up if you will. I went to see another orthodontist about 2 months ago and told me he could use OrthoClear on me for $4200. He also said the process would only take 9 months as opposed to this other lady that told me it would take a year with the $7000 invisalign. She also mentioned that some "invisible", thin tooth colored braces were much cheaper and time would also be a year. She did not provide a price.

I'm a college student and cannot afford $7000. The $4200 is still much but more plausible. What would you recommend? The less treatment time overall is a plus but finance is the big factor.

Should I keep visiting orthodontists for consultations? I'm in southern cali in Norwalk.

Orthodontists Help? Invisalign or any other affordable option for the look im going to achieve? OrthoClear?
Firstly, it is true, OrthoClear was recently bought out bu Invisalign, so it no longer exists. Prices for Invisalign can vary greatly between Orthodontists, from $5000 to $7000. My best suggestion for you is to get your work done at a Dental School, if finances are an issue. Both USC and UCLA have Dental Schools with Orthodontic Programs. Usually you can get good quality work done at these schools for half the price.

However, You may want to consider getting the braces. They are cheaper and most often can accomplish the type of movement that you want in much less time. Invisalign can only move teeth in small movements over a long period of time, braces can move things along much faster. Another option is to find out if the same movements can be achieved by a simple orthodontic appliance (retainer-like appliance). The last option is to see if you can achieve the same result with simple bonding. Often if there is a small gap (diastema) between teeth, this can usually be closed with bonding (white fillings).

It is difficult to give you exact answers, because I am not familiar with your case; however, I hope that this is helpful!
Reply:Don't know about California, but out East, regular clear braces are about $1500. Invisalign is about $5000. Honestly, the clear braces aren't all that bad.
Reply:Invisalign are more expensive then regular braces. So if you just need minor work done, you would be better off with the old standard braces.
Reply:I actually received my braces when I was 19, I'm not sure how much the cost because my parents paid (i was still in school). But I did get the clear (ceramic) braces. They're regular braces but instead of the metal squares you have tooth colored ceramic brackets. They're a lot stronger than the metal ones and stronger than the plastic brackets (tooth colored and similar to the ceramic ones). Ceramic braces tend to be less visible all together than metal braces do. I would suggest that you go with regular ceramic braces over invisalign if you cannot afford them. Invisalign will be more expensive because you switch retainers every two weeks. Also there's more of a chance of you loosing them. I believe regular braces cost around $2-3000 depending on how much work you need done, or less. From what you described you may only need braces on your top teeth and not the bottom.

Going to a dental student is something that you want to do MAYBE if you're just having a cleaning done. But not if it's something where they're installing an actuall appliance in your mouth. It needs to be done by a professional.
Reply:I'm wearing clear braces that will cost me $6,000 and 2 years to wear. I was told that Invisalign or something similar cost more. Whether you get major or minor adjustments done, the dental labs still make pretty much the same appliance so there will hardly be any difference in price there. The price difference would be on the duration of wear and maybe the experience of the orthodontist.

In my case, the first 10-12 months is when noticeable realignments happen to my teeth. During the final 12 months, the teeth are already aligned as planned and they just need to be reinforced so no noticeable movements are expected. If you only need minor adjustments then your realignment period may be much shorter.

Usually older more experienced orthodontists would know more and be better in their trade but then they probably might charge more (they probably won't tell you that). My orthodontist is in his early forties but he seems to really know what he's doing and so far in the 18 months that I've been wearing my braces I've had only one complaint and that was after the first time my braces were installed. The wire wasn't held securely at the very back molar, it snapped free and started piercing my cheek. Obviously I was in a lot of pain, but that's what happens when dental assistants are involved.

Going to too many consultations may end up costing you a lot in fees. Ask around for reliable orthodontists in your area. In your consultation, ask a lot of questions. If the orthodontist is really knowledgeable then he/she should be accomodating and not be irritated with your questions no matter how stupid they are. Remember, you're the one who doesn't know anything about braces and you want value for your money. Ask what the plan of action is, what's going to be done at every visit. An orthodontist should know how go about fixing your teeth.

Do most people perceive Invisalign as more expensive?

I've been reading the dental section for a few months now, and it seems most people assume Invisalign costs more - maybe double - what traditional braces cost. I've just attended a national meeting of Invisalign dentists and none of them charge more. Where does this idea come from? Are orthodontists charging more for Invisalign?

If you think the price is higher, where did you get your information?

Do most people perceive Invisalign as more expensive?
You need to get all the facts. Believe me I checked out everything because I did not want to get braces again. In some cases, invisalign is low in cost and done easily and quickly. Those are minor cases however. My mouth for example has perfectly strait teeth. Its the shape of my mouth that needs to be fix; My top row and bottom row of teeth dont touch. To get invisalign I would have had to worn them a lot longer and it would have cost a couple thousand more. This isnt info from my dentist but from an employee of invisalign. She came out to look at my case and even after all that she didnt guarentee it would work. Therefore invisalign is best for minor cases. I will however get an invisaline retainer instead of a metal one. I also looked into the ceramic, Damon 3 System, and lingual braces but the best still came to be traditional metal braces. It stinks but you got to do what you got to do.
Reply:I've wondered the same thing. In my rural South Jersey general practice, I charge $3,000 for most Invisalign cases, which is quite a bit less than traditional braces in most cases. I have heard that some charge more for Invisalign than they do for braces, though. The thing is, I am not a specialist and I choose to do only "easy" cases that will not require extra devices to be used in conjunction with Invisalign. This can add to the fee significantly.
Reply:I just got them a few weeks ago. At my orthodontist, they are about a $1000 more expensive than regular braces. Prior to that, I had a consultation with a different orthodontist, and the price difference was about the same.
Reply:i work 4 an orthodontist and he charges more for invisalign. just get the braces! brackets are so small that you can hardly see them and i know with invisalign it you start to feel pressure or pain....out they go.

Getting braces (invisalign), it's pretty expensive too!?

Hi, I'm 18 now and heading off to college this fall. Today, I went to the orthodontist to see what options I have in straightening my teeth. They aren't deathly crooked or anything, they just need to be straigtened into neat little rows.

I have 1 tooth on the bottom row thats an overbite. My orthodontist says the invisalign braces are not strong enough to fix that one overbite tooth so she'll have to install one small set of brace just for that tooth (she says no one will be able to really see it though). After that tooth is set in, I can start to wear the invisalign. I know they are much more comfortable, discreet and faster than the traditional metal braces. My mom tells me the whole things will cost 6K. I was quite shocked. I thought, at most it will be 4K or a little over, but not this much. How much are regular metal braces compared with invisaligns?

Getting braces (invisalign), it's pretty expensive too!?
HELLO,

DEPENDING ON WHETHER A GENERAL DENTIST OR A SPECIALIST PERFORMS THE WORK FOR YOU, THE LOWER PRICE FOR TRADITIONAL METAL BRACES WILL BE WITH THE GENERAL DENTIST.

FYI SOME GENERAL DENTISTS START JUST A LITTLE OVER 4K FOR INVISALIGN. 5K OR 6K IS WHAT MOST ORTHODONTISTS CHARGE.
Reply:regular run around 2-3k
Reply:It's actually very close in cost to get traditional braces. either way it hurts, but you can make payments. Is it worth it to you?
Reply:my sons braces are 2700.00 cash plus 2500.00 covered by insurance...but depending on what you need it can vary dramatically....ask the ortho how much less metal would be.

Information about braces and invisalign?

Ok, Invisalign looks like an option I'd rather take, but I know nothing about this stuff :] I'm a sophmore in high school and I don't want braces in my senior pictures. If I get normal braces, which I'll probably have for 2-4 years ((duh)) then they'll be in my senior pics. Here come the questions..

How much do braces cost? ((estimate/average))

How much does Invisalign cost? ((estimate/average))

Does Invisalign really damage your teeth?

Thanks..

Information about braces and invisalign?
It all depends on how spaced out/crooked your teeth are. Most orthodontists will see you take pictures and talk to you about costs free of charge. There is no cost for the pictures or consultation. Example for prices my dads braces for two years is 8000. My invisalign that I only needed for a year is 3500. My teeth aren't crooked or very spaced out. My dads however are very spaced out. Ive never heard of invisalign causing damage, and I doubt it does. Thousands of people have used it.

I decided to edit cause I read others comments. My insurance did cover 50 percent of the cost for invisalign. Like I said at your consultation they will discuss costs and payment plans. Most places are very understanding of the high costs and will set up no interest payment plans over the course of your treatment.
Reply:I have never heard of invisalign damaging teeth, however certain cases are not good for invisalign (over bite, under bite).

I have invisalign now to fix gaps in my teeth. They are working out great and my dentist told me that they are faster than regular braces. I will have them in for a year, but no one can even see them! No one knows that I wear them.

They were a little expensive, about $4500. My insurance does not cover them because I am an adult. I think they are well worth the money especially if your other option is regular braces.

They are a little painful though. They are easy and invisable, but there is a lot of pressure when you get new trays as well as when you get wires tightened with regular braces. Good luck!
Reply:braces cost depends.

mine cost about 3200 because of my overbite and straightning of teeth.

i dont have invisalign because it couldnt fix my overbite but i heard it straightens well.
Reply:Invisalign WILL NOT damage teeth. In fact, invisalign will move your teeth and it will costs around $5000. Insurance won't cover it though.
Reply:Not sure cost of braces but I have looked into invisalign and this is what I know.

*Cost is $4500 as previously posted by someone else

*Since you can take them off you can brush, floss, and eat normally (I have heard of people getting gingivitis with braces because you can't floss and brush well)

*The negative is that invisalign puts you on the "honor system" as it's up to you to wear them because you can take them out. This is stupid though, to not wear them, because you are wasting money and your teeth won't get straightened, so why wouldn't you wear them.

Question for Invisalign users?

I've just gotten Invisalign and was told not to eat or drink anything but water while I'm wearing them. I work in a coffee shop, so it is really hard for me to not sip coffee while at work. So, has any Invisalign users ever tried to eat or drink something other then water while wearing them? And if you did, what happened?

Question for Invisalign users?
The reason that you should not drink beverages with a heavy stain while wearing Invisalign is because the clear plastic can stain easily. Also drinking hot beverages like coffee can actually warp the trays as well, because the plastic can deform at higher temperatures. If you want to drink some coffee with your trays in either have ice coffee or drink it at room temperature, then remove the trays and rinse them and your mouth really well. The best suggestion is to remove the trays while drinking the coffee, rinse your mouth and trays out well and put them back in as soon as possible.
Reply:They stain and bacteria gets trapped under the Invisalign and you can get cavities easier.
Reply:Don't have Invisalign but went for consultation w/ ortho. She asked me if I drank coffee/red wine and I said not that often. She said good, because it could stain, that and dark juices like grape. She told me if I needed to have wine/coffee, drink w/ a straw.

That being said I would probably try to phase out coffee eventually for green or herbal tea.
Reply:As others have already told you, it's because it will stain the trays and the whole point to Invisalign is that nobody can really tell that you're wearing them. If they are stained, people will notice them. I've had patients tell me that they tend not to snack or drink coffee/soda while they are wearing their trays, almost like a forced diet.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Does Invisalign really work?

♥ Attention all Invisalign users!! ♥?
I am a general dentist who does Invisalign. I charge from $3000-7000, depending on the severity of the problem. As with many other health related problems, results can vary. I am very up front with patients about the possiblities, and limitations. In the right situation, it can be a great way to get beautiful results.

First, the patient must be willing to cooperate and wear them 24/7, and take them out only for eating and cleaning.

You must also understand that no matter what kind of treatment you get, that you will almost always need to wear a retainer at night for the rest of your life to insure that they stay straight.

Find a dentist who does this and most will give you a free consultation. Make sure the dentist has done more than a couple of cases. Good luck!
Reply:more than 5,000

it works for people who have MINAMAL problems

talkto your ortho~
Reply:i have had it and no its doesnt work and it costs the same wit braces i reccmend do not use it is supposed to fix small small small gaps and thats about it do not get it i reccomend just gettin braces cus a lot of ppl hav had them and they actually work! :) hope this helped!! Oh yah and how do u do those little hearts?? there cute lol
Reply:I used invisalign a couple years ago. My teeth were pretty straight, but I'm a dental hygienist so I wanted them perfect. I had consultations at 2 different offices and both dentists said i "was the perfect candidate for invisalign".They cost me $3500...which was at a discount since I am in the profession. (The dentist I didn't choose quoted me $7000.) I was told that they would take 9 months. After a year with no results they put traditional brackets on my lower teeth which worked. After 2 1/2 years with them on my top teeth I gave up. They weren't helping. I was very complient with wearing them and only took them out to eat, brush and floss.

My advice to you as an Invisalign wearer and dental hygienist...

Only get them if you have minimal corrections to be made especially if it involves extra spacing. They do not work well for crowded teeth, rotated teeth or teeth that have grown out a little too much.

Hope that helps!
Reply:Invisalign is for minor cases. It costs more then regular braces.
Reply:it costs between 5,000-7,000. It works well.
Reply:I paid $5000 for mine and have had them in for about 40 weeks. I only had spacing issues with my teeth. However, after 20 trays (I'm on my last one) my top teeth still have some gaps and I'm going to have to go back in and have new impressions made for a new set of trays. I like them because they're invisible, but the results have not been nearly as good as I was hoping. Hopefully they'll get it right with this next set of trays

Has any one under invisalign?

this question is about invisalign

does it correct overbite

my top teeth should be pushed back and bottom teeth should be pushed front can invisalign correct this.

what happens during initial visit with the doctor

what happens next ( do ortho recors needed for invisalign)

average costs

Has any one under invisalign?
The problem with invisalign is that you have to make the effort and have the willpower to actually wear them. Since they are removable it's very difficult to make yourself wear them. They are uncomfortable.

Should I go with Invisalign or normal braces??

im 16. the Dentist said normal ones will cost 3,600, and Invisalign 4,000...my mom said its not a big difference

My Teeth arent that bad, just crowding up the bottom teeth, and some crowding with upper. Plus I need my lower Jaw widened to fit the teeth.

Would Invisalign be as good in my case?

Does it do good on lower jaw widening?

Is there more hastle with Invisalign?

Which would be faster/ more affective?

tnx alot

Should I go with Invisalign or normal braces??
I have had Invisalign for about 2 years and would not suggest getting them. I was also told that my teeth are "too" bad and Invisalign would work well with my type of crowding. I am really frustrated with Invisalign and thinking about switching to normal braces. I am 20 years old and can't stand going in every 2 weeks to get a new pair. After going through it about 3 times, they have had to make mid cource adjustments 3 times and i doubt it is going to work. Think about it and talk to a few ortho's/dentists. Cost is not an issue for me but just the fact that they misleading and patients should be advised that they are not for crowding, overbites etc. Unless you have a reallyyyy good ortho/dentist who is willing to take extra time and put little attachments aka buttons which help rotate, etc. Save yourself the time and energy and go with regular braces. Although they will be embarrassing they will save you lots of time and frustration!
Reply:I would say go for normal ones. Invisalign is too much of a hasle cause every other week you have to get new ones. Sure it is faster but it doesn't help with lower jaw widening.

Just go with normal ones.
Reply:Take what you can get if its offered, many cannot afford that stuff so they do without, thank whoever gave you the resources to get teeth fixed and be happy.

Ask youyr Dentist or whatever wehat is best. Orthodonist might be good for a second opinion, but they know more than anybody else.
Reply:I would go for the braces, even though invisalign looks better. You will find yourself not wearing your invisalign because they will get on your nerves. Also, braces are more effective and the orthodontist can easily make changes rather than making all these molds. Braces are much faster, because as I said you never take them out--not to eat, or to brush your teeth or anything. Invisalign are nasty, they smell bad, and they are just plain annoying. Definitley go with regular braces. You can have them on and off in a year rather than going through all these weird steps with molds and stuff which could take much longer.
Reply:Invisalign is not "nasty", not if you keep them clean and follow instructions.

Only your dentist can tell you if your case would be better off with traditional braces or clear aligners. Usually, adults do better than teens with Invisalign simply because most teens are not responsible enough to keep them in and not lose them. (Some of the answers above sound like teens who are not responsible enough to care for the appliances.)

Have a long talk with your dentist and ask about both forms of treatment. Not all cases work with Invisalign, but when it is recommended by an experienced doctor they work just as well as metal braces.

Can Invisalign cause gum recession?

I want to get Invisalign to correct minor crookedness due to not wearing my retainer after braces.

However, I believe I have a problem with gum recession. I saw my periodontist 2 months ago and he said I do not have gingivitis but I feel like my gums are gradually receding... both at the top and especially in between the teeth.

Will Invisalign promote recession in my seemingly sensitive gums? Thanks in advance.

Can Invisalign cause gum recession?
no i am a certified dental assistant and i am sure and ive learned in the invisalign class that that do not happen

Does Invisalign work?

I've seen the commercials about Invisalign, and I'm getting braces soon, but I'm wondering if Invisalign really works and makes your teeth straighter.

Does Invisalign work?
yes but it's a long process. Invisalign is a system of retainers that eventually straighten out your teeth. You go through several retainers before you see results. After I had braces I had retainers similar to those of Invisalign, and they were obnoxious and you can't eat with them in. Braces are easier.
Reply:i'm thinking about getting it 2! Report It

Reply:I've been wearing invisalign braces for a year now and my teeth are a bit straighter but not what they were suppose to be at this time. They predicted i would be wearing them for a year and a half but at this rate i would say definetly over 2 years. If i could go back i would just get regular braces.

With invisalign you literally have to brush and floss your teeth after every meal, which really becomes a hassel. The only thing you can put in your mouth with them in is water. It is a very cool concept but its longgggggg and regular braces work faster and better to be honest. I have to wear my braces 20-22 hours a day which is really hard to do if i have to keep flossing and brushing, and i dont care what people say they are NOT that comfortable.
Reply:They do work, in most cases.
Reply:They only work if you have the self dicipline to brush your teeth after every meal and actually put them back in. When I first got mine, I didn't want to put them back in becuase they hurt so bad for the first few days.
Reply:they used Invisalign on my son and it broke very quickly.

How effective is invisalign and cost?

I'm thinking about getting invisalign to close the gaps in my teeth. So, is getting invisalign a waste of money or what? How much did you spend on your treatment for invisalign for those who've had it?

How effective is invisalign and cost?
Go to their website and request a packet. They'll send you a video and point out dentists in your area... From what I remember they are pretty pricey, but I looked a few years ago now.
Reply:they are pricy but they work faster than braces! BUT THEY ARE DISCUSTING LIKE EWWWW. YOU TAKE EM OFF AND THERE IS SALIVA AND SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SUCK ON IT!!
Reply:Absolutely not a waste of money. It works great depending on the patient and their compliance and desire to attain the perfect smile. If you are sure you want ortho treatment, it's the best way to go. You wear the clear custom tray that slowly shifts the teeth moving them into proper occlusion and alignment, only taking them out to eat or brush and floss. The doctor gives you different size trays every few weeks until you complete the treatment plan. It's that simple! For more information ask your Doctor or visit the site below. Cost varies from each dentist and occasionally it's dependent on how difficult the case. It usually is a little more than regular braces but well worth it. Hope I've been of some help, good luck!
Reply:I currently have invisaligns and the are working extremely well! You can actually see results after just a couple of weeks. I had several gaps in my teeth and they were all closed in just one year. Invisaligns are very comfortable and the good thing is that if you have a special occasion like a date, or a time when you don't want to talk funny, or when you will be doing a lot of eating, you can just not put them in!

They are not gross because you will not be taking them out in front of people. You will not have to suck them, because you will simply rinse them before you put them back into your mouth.

They are more expensive. My cost was $2500. My insurance covered the other portion ($3500).

I totally recommend them!!!
Reply:I dont think they are waste of money.. I reckon they work good but pricey..

Is Invisalign worth it?

I don't know if I ever really needed braces, but I thought straighting (closing some gaps) in my teeth would help. I thought going with Invisalign. But it looks like its going to cost $4800. Where as normal braces would be $3500. Considering I'm a 30 year old single and would like to get married sometime in the next year or so (but who knows). is it worth it to get Invisalign?

Is Invisalign worth it?
Find a general dentist who has at least 50 Invisalign cases completed. You will get the same results and chances are, it will cost way less than seeing an Orthodontist.

Yes, it works great and is worth it. I've seen many happy results in our office.
Reply:You can consult with several orthodontists and/or dentists. Prices vary. It's also becoming common to see adults wearing normal braces, and you can get ceramic brackets so it's less noticeable. If your teeth aren't terribly crooked your treatment shouldn't take long -- perhaps less than a year.

Extraction treatment with invisalign?

I have i braces on 6 months ago and now i have two extraction tooth. I want to take off my braces and start my extraction treatment with invisalign. Is it possible? Because my dentist told me that i can't change to invisalign unless my extraction gap is close. However, i did some research, there are a few cases that possible to close the gap with invisalign. If anyone have any imformation about this...please let me know...thank you

Extraction treatment with invisalign?
HELLO,

YES, SMALL GAPS MAY EASILY BE CLOSED USING INVISALIGN, BUT THE EXPENSE MAY NOT JUSTIFY THE COST.

WHY CAN'T YOUR CURRENT BRACES JUST CLOSE THESE SPACES?
Reply:Metal braces are better for closing the gap

Does Invisalign affect TMJ? Can Invisalign cure TMJ?

I think I have TMJ but I'm not sure... before I consider metal braces or Invisalign I need to know if these procedures will irritate my jaw or cause further damage.

I have actually researched TMJ a little and I think I have it based on the symptoms.

P.S Thanx a lot guys for answering!

Does Invisalign affect TMJ? Can Invisalign cure TMJ?
No, Invasalign may alieviate the symptoms simply based on the insertion of an appliance that is changing the position of the condyle in the fossa. But unless it is carefull thought out it would be purely by chance.
Reply:as far as i know the only "cure"for tmj is surgery but i've had it for a couple of years now and you can either have your dentist to make you a mouth piece to wear at night..kind of like the mouth piece football players wear...or go to wal mart and they have one back in the pharmacy that you make yourself...i think it is called dr's night guard...get it and wear it every night and you will be amazed at how much better you will sleep and feel...it will take you a little while to get used to wearing something in your mouth at night but it want take long...good luck
Reply:find out what is causing your jaw to be out of alignment. you dont want a serious case of tmj. it is scary and very painful. for me it was a baby tooth that never came out because of a molar. i had the baby tooth pulled and my tmj went away. it was actually pretty cool to say i lost my last baby tooth at 40..lol
Reply:There are many causes of TMJ (also called TMD...temporal mandibular dysfunction as TMJ stands for temporal mandibular joint...which we all have). You need to be evaluated as to the cause of your TMD. If it is caused by grinding of the teeth at night, otherwise knows as "bruxism," a mouth guard would certainly be the answer. It may also be caused by faulty posture, muscular imbalance, or abnormal mechancis of the joint (either overly lax or overly tight ligaments). I'm sure there are other orthodontic conditions that could cause it as well.

If your TMD is caused by burxism, speak to your orthodontist as the first phase of invisaligns requires you to wear them 24 hours. I know because I had them! This may not work well with your mouth guard. If your TMD is caused by one of the other reasons, such as muscular imbalance or posture, then invisaligns should not affect your TMD.

Find out the cause first!
Reply:Anything that alters the position of the teeth and the way that the teeth come together, including both Invisalign and conventional braces, can affect your TMJ. If treatment is done without regard to proper occlusion (which sounds moronic, but it happens when esthetics is the major concern), it can lead to TMJ problems. If you have a bite problem that is causing TMJ problems and the dentist takes this into consideration, you may be able to get some improvement of the situation. In my experience, virtually ALL patients need some amount of "bite adjustment" by the dentist (me) to be sure that their final result does not cause TMJ problems. Orthodontia generally is concerned with relatively gross degrees of movement and there is little control over the amazingly infinitesimal changes in cusp angulation that can lead to TMJ problems. "Care, skill and judgement" are required to really fine tune the final result.
Reply:Has someone already diagnosed you as needing braces? Your comment about TMJ reminds me of undergrad studies in Psych where you start to think you have all these bizarre problems after you read about them. The fact is, most TMJ patients are female and middle-aged. There are numerous studies which refer to TMJ as more of a Psych issue than a Dental issue. What things in your life as stressors are causing you to grind or clench your teeth? If you can get to the real cause of the problem(s), and deal with them and get closure, you will probably find that the so-called TMJ will go away. Hope this helps.

What is the difference between invisalign and the color white braces?

what is the difference between invisalign and the color white braces? i am going to the ortadonest tomorrow so what colors should i get? is there such thing as getting white colored braces besides getting invisalign?? is it possible??? i wanted it all white!

would he be able to snap in WHITE color things besdies getting invisalign? he said i can't get invisalign so am i able to get white color snap ins???????

What is the difference between invisalign and the color white braces?
INVISALIGN IS A TRAY THAT FITS OVER THE TEETH SNUGLY AND YOU CAN HARDLY SEE IT. IT ONLY CORRECTS MINOR TOOTH MOVENTS. TOOTH COLOR BRACES ARE NORMAL BRACES EXCEPT TEH COLOR OF YOUR TOOTH SO IT IS NOT AS EASY TO SEE THEM. THESE CAN DO ANY KIND OF TOOTH MOVEMENT. THEY ARE MORE OR LESS THE SAME PRICE. ID GO TOOTH COLOR BRACES.
Reply:They put colored bands over the brackets. I always picked gray, because the white bands make your teeth look yellow. You could also ask for clear brackets.
Reply:If you cannot get invisalign braces and you won't something less noticeable you can get ceramic (clear) braces. Here is a link to the ceramic braces website to see how they look.

As far as colors, here is a link to a site where you can actually select the different colors on braces to see how they look.

Email me if I can be of further help.
Reply:Invisiline is a series of clear acrylic trays made to fit over the teeth, they are removable, braces are not (until the orthodontist removes them, of course.)

They are made to move the teeth slightly with each new tray (which are worn for several months until the desired movement has been accomplished.) If your case is dificult and cannot be corrected with invisiline, there are clear or tooth colored ceramic braces that look nicer that the traditional metal braces.

Just ask your orthodontist what is available to you and will work for your partricular correction--he/she will be more than happy to discuss the options.

If you do have traditional braces placed there are many colors of elastics to decorate your smile with--usually the assistant placing them will let you choose the colors you want from what she has available.
Reply:Invisalign are retainer-like braces that are normally used in small cases such as slight crowding. Many orthodontist don't recommend invisalign for most cases. They are extremely hard to notice unless you are up close to the person.

Ceramic Braces, also known as clear braces, are like traditional braces and normally cost about the same price as the traditional silver. They are stain resistant but the ligatures that hold the metal wire to the bracket have a tendency to stain when you eat foods such as red pasta sauce, but these are changed at your monthly visit. They are hard to notice from a distance and in photographs.

Your orthodontist will explain to you the pros and cons of each at your initial visit.

A question about invisalign and ceramic braces?

im thinking about telling my dad to give me invisalign to fix my teeth -- or ceramic braces if they're better. I have buckteeth, which means that my front upper and lower teeth protrude outwards. There is also some crowding in my back teeth, it looks like they're kinda jammed together. can somebody tell me what price they had to pay for their invisalign and the length of treatment they had? I just wanna know if someone out there has teeth like mine. OR just give me some feedback on ceramic braces too, so I can decide which is better. Which one is more expensive by the way? Ceramic braces or invisalign?

A question about invisalign and ceramic braces?
i have buckteeth too, and i opted for ceramic braces, you can barely see them and they arent bad. im not sure abour invisalign i do believe that it is more expensive than any other treatment. Ceramic braces however cost me 400 dollars more than what the regular metal ones cost, and this was only for the top ones. Since you cant really see my bottom teeth when i talk or smile, i just got the regular silver ones on he bottom because that would of been 400 dollars more for the bottoms also. what i do like about my ceramic braces is that most people really cant tell unless they get close to me, one bad thing though is that your clear rubber bands that go around the bracket can be stained if you eat things that have a very dark tint to it. ex: bbq sauce.. even though i do eat these things and i havent had a problem with my rubber bands staining.. good luck :)
Reply:the cost for ceramic braces is around Rs 60,000 (indian rupees). the length of treatment depends on ur oral condition and the kind of care u take. one thing u have to keep in mind is ceramic braces are very delicate n u will have to take good care of them. all the best
Reply:well the price often depends on the area you live in, Invisalign generally runs around 4500 dollars. I think that its well worth the cost, because time is shortened and the appliances are clear and not too painful, you should go to a dentist and have a consultation, and they'll give you a few options. Good luck

Will Medical cover invisalign ????

I go to Western Dental.

Will Medical cover invisalign?

Or should I just get thoses cute but ANNOYING braces?

invisalign lasts shorter though.

PLEASE HELP! I dont think that invisalign is cosmetic .

Will Medical cover invisalign ????
Usually not, you need to check anyways because invisalign only works on certain kinds of teeth misalignment, obviously it can't do much more than kinda just push them into place, if you need to scoot them around or pull them out of the way of other teeth or anything like that, they probably won't do
Reply:The only people that will know is your insurance. Give them a call and ask them. You might be able to find what you're looking for on the web. I have Regence and didn't know if something was covered so I e-mailed them and they got back to me the next morning.
Reply:No, I don't think so because Invisalign is more expensive.
Reply:Invisalign is considerably more expensive than the old braces. I had them on my daughter for almost a yr at which my dental insurance was covering. However, she decided to just put the regular braces on after always having to remove them to eat which was an annoyance. I'm sure Medi-Cal won't pay for them unless it's written up as a medical necessity.
Reply:sadly no, and I'm in ur case right now too! I have to get braces but I dread them!! I asked a lot of doctors if medical could cover it but they said no :(

but it's okay bcuz u'll have way better results with regular braces! GOOD LUCK! :D
Reply:I'm getting invisalign. and i don't have western dental but my dental charges the same for both invisalign and metal braces

After invisalign do you get a lisp?

im gonna get invisalign soon and i read somewhere that after uve finished with invisalign u still have a lisp coz ur tongue got used to having it in? is this true

After invisalign do you get a lisp?
so what if your tongue gets used to it? after removing it your tongue will get used to it too, with out it too.
Reply:No you dont get a lisp at all.

Starting Invisalign soon?

I just got impressions made for Invisalign this past week. For those who've had it done, how long till I start this madness? They said it may take 6 weeks. Why so long?

And anyone have any problems with Invisalign? I trust my orthodontist. He's really good and tells me my teeth will look great. But, any horror stories from it?

Starting Invisalign soon?
I just started Invisalign about 2 weeks ago. It took about a month for my trays to come in after my impressions were made. They had to send off the impressions to be studied and have the trays made - a total of 15 trays that will be gradually changed out every two weeks. I'm going to be finished with mine in about 7 months, and my total cost is $4400. I'm happy with them so far though. Sore at first, but only takes a couple of days to feel back to normal. I can't wait to have straight teeth!
Reply:after my impressions and x-rays it took about a month for them to call me back about how long the treatment was going to be then i finally went back oct.30th and from there my dentist told me it would take about two weeks for the trays to come back. i'm really excited, my treatment is supposed to be for eight months which i thought was pretty good, i thought it would longer i paid $3950 for mine

Braces, Invisalign, Extraction?

Well I really want invisalign, but my dentist said I can't have them because I might have to get an extraction, well I don't see why I wouldn't I be able to get an extraction if I could just take the invisalign off. I would get lingual braces, but that's too expensive and I don't want my mom to have to pay 8000-10000 dollars.

My teeth are really messed up too, like I hate smiling because they're messed up. :[

Braces, Invisalign, Extraction?
yes, your teeth may be to crowded for invisalign, invisalign is only used for minor gaps and spaces, but not actual crooked teeth. extractions are necessary if you need more space for overcrowding, usually the regular braces (the one with rubber bands) require extractions of 4 of the premolars.

but, I had the newer Damon System Braces, they dont require extraction, they dont have rubber bands, there is a shorter treatment time than regular braces, and they are much more comfortable to your mouth, and guess what, they are around the same price as regular braces. You should probably find an orthodontist in your area that has these braces. not many orthodontists have them yet, but my orthodontist was one of the first. it's around $5000-$6300 in the U.S. depending on location for these braces, which is the same price range as the ones with rubber bands. If you want the half-clear ceramic and half-steel brackets, you may only have to pay an extra $100 fee. but the all-steel brackets are the same they just are more noticable. but i had the half clear and half steel one. people couldnt exactly notice them as well.

Lingual Braces, really are much more expensive, and Orthodontists rarely do this procedure, because most do not have the skill to put them behind your teeth. they are much less comfortable because your tongue may be pressing against them too much, i highly suggest you dont get lingual braces just because you dont want everyone seeing your braces.

really, look into finding an orthodontist in your area that has the Damon Braces.
Reply:Impressions of your teeth are taken for invisalign, and if you remove a tooth the impression will be different with missing teeth. They wouldn't fit.

Why are you against normal braces? Thats better than having really screwed up teeth.
Reply:invisaline! I have braces right now and there not as bad as people say and mine have worked great but..
Reply:Is the tooth the dentist thinks you need extracting already completely in? If so why don't you have him remove it then let the site heal, then get fitted for invisalign? Once he places metal braces on he wouldn't be able to extract a tooth either. The reason you cant get invisalign now and have him extract the tooth once you have started the treatment is because they make moldings of your teeth and decide your treatment. If you have a tooth removed in the middle it would mess up the imprints. Like I said ask him if you can get the tooth removed before you start your treatment. If he doesn't give you a good answer, go somewhere else, I am sure there are plenty of other ortho's in your town that would love your business.

Will Invisalign work with my advanced case?

I have 3 impacted teeth that will need to be surgically removed (I had one removed years ago). This leaves me with 4 baby teeth that aren't going to last forever. Is it possible to get invisalign after getting dental implants or are those implants secure forever? I want Invisalign, but I don't want to have any missing teeth.

Will Invisalign work with my advanced case?
Unfortunately, Invisilign will not be appropriate after implants. Actually, the baby teeth will need to be removed to have the implants placed so you will have spaces between the time the surgery is done and the crowns are placed on top of the implants, and this usually takes months.

You should have a consultation with an orthodontist that works with your general dentist on a regular basis in order to treatment plan your "case" appropriately. Usually what happens in the consultation with the orthodontist is the taking of an xray to check tooth position and impressions of your teeth. After that the orthodontist will give you a general idea of how much time and how much money they will cost. However, in your case the orthodontist would be factoring in using the braces to hold spaces open for implants. The implants might also involve you seeing an prosthodontist, a dentist who specializes in advanced treatment such as implants. So, in a nutshell you have an advanced case that will probably involve 3 types of dentists who need to communicate well and coordinate you care to get the job done. Good luck

Last Question about Invisalign. Can you get a any more of a discount for invisalign than just the insurance.?

My dad said that he would get invisalign if i can reduce the price by $1800 dollars. It would take me a long time to make the money and i have no other ideas. The customer service rep. told me that thats the most discount I can get but I dont think so (probably just doesn't want me to find out). My invisalign price is $7000 with a 25% discount from my insurance company. I dont want regular braces because i have to wear all of these elastics and crap with it I would look like a nerd...Any ideas please! PLEASE leave the website that I can get it from.

Last Question about Invisalign. Can you get a any more of a discount for invisalign than just the insurance.?
Talk to the provider, see if they'll bring the price down.

Will invisalign work for me ???

I dont want to get braces so I was thinking of getting invisalign. The problem with my teeth is a slight over bite and theses two teeth (don't know what there called) but when ever I smile make it look like I have vampire teeth cuz they are much higher than the rest of my teeth and are a bit pointed.....will invisalign work for me ????

Will invisalign work for me ???
yes invisalingn will work for u but will take much longer than regular braces and more expensive
Reply:probably. My dentist was going to use that for me, but it was too expensive. It's definetly a better alternative to braces, but ask your dentist if it would work for u

Invisalign or normal braces?

is everyone a candidate for invisalign braces,if not,Why not

Which of the 2 is better and which treatment hurts less. How long is the treatment for regular braces compared to invisalign.and my last question is the cost of each treatment

Invisalign or normal braces?
i've had both...i had braces when i was in intermediate school, then i didn't keep up the retainer thing and ended up getting invisalign later.

i think the only real difference is that, regular braces probably help you more if you have really crooked teeth or if they need to be moved in a kind of complicated way. if your teeth aren't that crooked i would say to get invisalign.

i don't think one is better than the other, instead it's more like which one is right for you. and it probably matters how quickly your teeth will move...i dont' think one necessarily makes your teeth move faster than the other.

the one thing i didn't like about invisalign is having to take it out every time i ate or drank anything. since it's clear you can stain them from drinking anything colored. and you can't eat with them on because you could break or damage them.

the cost of treatment for invisalign probably varies with how many retainers they have to make to move your teeth. if you have to wear them for a long period of time and have to move your teeth a lot, i can see that costing a lot more. where as regular braces, they're only really changing out wires and tiny rubber bands that hold the wire on to the braces.
Reply:Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign. Candidates for Invisalign need very little work done to their teeth. I suggest getting metal-braces. It all really depends on your teeth. Talk to your orthodontist.
Reply:Invisalign is cosmetically nicer to have, but it's effiency level is low low low! While it hurts less, you are paying thousands more and it takes much much longer to straighten out your smile. Braces hurt, but they are cheaper, you wear them for a much shorter period of time, and they are VERY effective! Normal braces run about $5000. Invisalign? Somewhere around $9,000-$15,000, depending on severity.
Reply:well, i just got braces not too long ago. so, i remember what my orthodontist told me. invisaligns are for alignment of the teeth. and braces are for crooked teeth. braces can also be used to pull teeth back or push forward. that's why i got mine. to pull mine back. i got mine for almost 8 months now. it doesn't hurt a bit. all you have to do is just follow the procedures. and you'll be fine. my treatment took two different days. first day you get your spacers. that is also the day where you have your pics taken. then after about 3-4 weeks, you get your brackets on. mine took about 45mins. but when it's time to get your ties and wire changed, it's only takes about 2mins once you sit. in my own opinion, having invisalign on makes your teeth look TOO glossy. i'd say braces. at least you can get the color of the ties changed. lol. i didn't get the metal brackets. i get the clear ones? have you seen those before? from a distance, my friends would as me, did you get a retainer? that's because you can barely see the brackets on your teeth. so, i suggest that. mine was about $3200. and regular metal ones is around $3000. it's a $200 difference. but it would look MUCH better. and invisalign, i'm not really sure. but good luck! hope you find the right one.

Invisalign after gum graft?

I have slight recession on my outer teeth and major recession on one of my first molars due to poor bonding. I'm having a gum graft on the molar because it keeps receding even after careful and gentle dental care but I also want Invisalign afterwards in order to correct a minor case of crookedness in the front.

Is Invisalign advisable after a gum graft? If so, how long after? Can it cause further recession? Thanks in advance.

Invisalign after gum graft?
You can start Invisalign after the graft is completely healed.

Invisalign and mouthguards?

I play lacrosse and the season starts in January. I am also getting invisalign braces in January. Can I fit a mouthguard over invisalign?

Invisalign and mouthguards?
Good question. Since you will be getting a new aligner every few weeks, you may well find your mouthguard won't fit over it--particularly if it fits well. If this is just a boil-and mold type of mouthguard, this isn't a big deal--if it gets tight around the aligners you can just get another. But if it is a vacuum-formed mouthguard made by your dentist, I doubt it will fit over the aligner--unless the impression for the mouthguard is made with the aligner in your mouth.

Talk to your orthodontist.

Steve Bornfeld, DDS
Reply:You probably can. But you can get special mouthguards for people with braces? Ask your dentist or your local sports shop.

Invisalign dentist?

i went in their website they have many dentist that provide invisalign.

where can i get the treatment, for example at the orthodontist location or at a general dentist. because with in 5 miles of my house there are about 15 doctor that provide invisalign about only 3 are orthodontist.. where do you recommend

Invisalign dentist?
You might save money by seeing a general dentist. Pick one who has been doing Invisalign for at least a few years and has done many cases.

Also, a general dentist might suggest alternative methods of achieving your goal, whereas orthodontists only focus on teeth movement.
Reply:Orthodontists are specialists and they are trained to move teeth. Dentists are not Orthodontists. Having said that, some dentists are able to understand some basics and work towards your goal. Obviously this means that would be a price difference in the provision of treatment. If cost is almost equal, then I would go to the orthodontist. If there is a big difference, then I would find out why. If your dentist is able to show previous pre and post op records of multiple patients, then why not.

I like going to specialists, that is just me.
Reply:I personally would recommend going to an Orthodontist. They went to school to study how to move the teeth the right way. Dentists are there to help keep your teeth healthy or repair them. With Invisalign, in the end if your teeth don't come out perfect you may need to finish with braces and you want an orthodontist to do that.

Invisalign - your experience?

I have some teeth spacing and saw an ad in a magazine for invisalign, i've browsed on the internet but want to know your experience and your cost of invisalign? thank you

Invisalign - your experience?
It's really annoying.

I don't like it at all.

Your mouth feels super uncomfortable.

And you have to slurp your saliva every 3 seconds/
Reply:its a great experience!! i love teeth spacing its one of my hobbies. Invialign is £300,000 each and you get a free fish toy.

Invisalign question?

I have never had braces. The only problem with me teeth is that there is a gap between my top front teeth. I want this fixed. I have heard about invisalign and I wonder if this is the way to go. Also, would invisalign express do the trick? How long do you think it would take to lose the gap. Also, would I have to go to the dentist often for "check ups"? Is this a lasting result?

Invisalign question?
Get Invisalign, its the best thing in the world! I get a new set every 2 weeks, got into the orthodontist so he can check my teeth every month and just gives me 2 more pairs. Its only for 50 weeks! The first day or so u feel some pressure but thats it. Ppl tell me braces kil! Braces, if u have sensitive teeth, like me, can cause permanent marks on ur teeth, invisalign doesnt. Braces u cant eat what ever u want, invisalign u just pop on and off. Braces hurt to get tightened, not invisalign. Everyone with braces always say the wires scratch them and they bleed, not invisalign. Invisalign u cant see, noone knows i have them till i tell them. Someoen told me they were invisable to others but i didnt believ it until i got it. Braces look ugly these dont. My guy told me that braces could take at least 2 yrs. Invisalign 50 weeks, and not lookign ugly! Also I have TMJ with means i guess i grind my teeth and my jaw snaps when i open mouth, and invisalign helps that problem, braces dont. If not for invisalign i would need a night gaurd which costs $500, and if i get braces my teeth shift so i would need at least 2 or 3 and invisalign is only a grand more (i think it was 5,000 as opposed to $4000 with barces). Wow, i should like make a commercial for them or something!

Invisalign and Cosmetic Dentistry Combined?

I've been using invisalign braces since february. I've had massive results. My two front teeth used to be buckled, one would go infront of the other. This has been about 85% corrected but my front teeth are kind of large/buck teeth to start with. After i was done i was planning on getting work done to resize them to correct sizing but i'm self concious about it now and would like them reduced somewhat at minimum... does anyone know if you can get your invisalign adjusted for changes like this? I don't really want to ask my ortho if its not possible. He did mention that they could be adjusted if i got my wisdom teeth removed.

Thanks!

Invisalign and Cosmetic Dentistry Combined?
Usually adjustments are done at the end of your treatment time. Your orthodontist will usually ask you if you are happy about your teeth and if there is anything you are unhappy about. If you tell them you are unhappy about how big your teeth are, he/she should be able to re-shape them to better fit your needs. But I will warn you this is not always a dramatic change because they are "trained" to keep tooth structure, but it does not hurt to ask. I would just wait until your teeth get into their final position.

Hope this helps!

Invisalign help ?

im gettin braces in less than a week. and i really want to get invisalign but my parents heard that it doesnt work well so they wont let me get them. i wouldnt be worried or anything but my sweet 16 is next year and i dont want to have braces on whats supposed to be one of the best nights of my life. so if you had/have or know someone who has invisalign can you sorta "fill me in" on how it works and whether or not it works so i can convince my parents? thanks

Invisalign help ?
i had the same problem with my parents. the truth is they really do work. i got them when i was 15 and i had them for about a yr and you can already tell the difference. i wasnt exactly qualifiyed for invisalign but it works anyway. the only thing is that it hurts a lot. and the fact that you can snap them on. most people i know took them off when they started to hurt and they ended up with not straight teeth but thats because when they start to hurt it means ur teeth are straightening. if you take them off than you are just not letting the braces to the work. so that will obviously cause no results. if you think you are strong enough to deal with the pain then go ahead and show your parents this and talk to them about it. good luck
Reply:I dont know but my aunt has them adn they seem to be working fine. tell your parents to research it or maybe you casn research it yourself . I think that maybe you could ask your dentist about it

Invisalign questions. I already have them and was wondering...?

I have invisalign and I finished the bottom teeth trays and still have 2 top trays but I am not 100% satisfied with the bottom, I havent talked to my ortho about it yet but do you think they'd order me more trays or do anything about it?? any experiences? invisalign is amazing! but I think i need a couple of more trays

Also, no retainers after right?

Invisalign questions. I already have them and was wondering...?
You must discuss this promptly with your orthodontist. My understanding is that if there is an error in the prescription they will allow fabrication of new aligners. But just what the lab considers an error I cannot say. But you must immediately have a sit-down with the orthodontist and try to communicate exactly what it is that you are not happy with. If you can't get this across to the orthodontist, there is no way they are going to be able to make new aligners to give you what you want.

I would say that almost all the time, you will need retainers after Invisalign treatment. The retainers will look exactly like your final set of aligners, except that they will be made of a heavier-guage plastic.

Invisalign question? Help!?

I had just visited the orthodontist. I have perfect teeth other than the fact I have a gap in the front two teeth. Not small but quite noticable. He requested braces for 4 months which will be cheaper and take less time as well as keep the gap closed for sure. I asked about invisalign and he said it would cost a little more and take a little more time, around a year to close the gap. He also said a retainer would have to be worn for a pretty long time at night so gap stays closed. I would liek some opinions as to what you guys think and if you have had gaps and what worked best with you. Also does invisalign work better than braces for my gap problem? Let me know, thanks.

Invisalign question? Help!?
Invisalign will work. It will take longer. And if you do not wear your final retainer at night for long enough the gap will come back. If you decide to take this route you need to be TOTALLY committed to wearing your retainers. The standard braces will close the gap permenantly and alot quicker. Depending on your progress you may need a retainer after they come off as well. As far as what works better, both will give you the same approximate outcome, it is just a matter of how much time and effort you would like to devote to this... My professional opinion, go for the braces, it is quicker, cheaper, and for gaps we try to push it over Invisalign every time. The decision really is yours though. If you do decide on Invisalign wear the retainers religiously and don't lose them. Good Luck and just remember no matter which one you pick, when it is all said and done your smile will be beautiful...
Reply:Just do the real braces for 4 months. I've heard some bad feedback about Invisalign from dentists because it doesn't move the roots of your teeth the same way real braces do. Besides, 4 months versus a year (and more than likely a huge cost difference) would be worth it alone!
Reply:Just go for the braces. They really aren't that bad, and you have less retainer time. Furthermore, the cost will be lower for braces.
Reply:I would just go for the braces, I think they work better. You can choose some different colors or clear for the front teeth.
Reply:Having the same EXACT problem, I know what you are going through. I wore "braces" as a child to close my diastama (or as it is commonly used, "space" or "gap"). I wore them for about 5 years ($2000) then a retainer to "retain" that smile....(your teeth are positioned the way they are by nature and having being forced into another position, they will want to go back to their original position so we use a retainer to try and "trick" them into thinking they belong in the place we have chosen for them)....whew! Anyway, I left for college, lost the retainer in the dining room (did i mention you have to take them out everytime you eat?) so I went without them for a long time. Replacing a retainer was $450 and for a college student let me tell you....anywho, I find myself in the dental field. All of a sudden I wanted that "space" gone but I did not want to walk around the office looking like my teenage patients so I invested $2000 "in office discount" (you will shell out any where from $5000 to $7500 plus the cost of a retainer) to do Invisilign. I wore them for about 7 months (had I not worked in the office it would have been a bit longer) and again, my "perfect smile" is back. Had I gone back to brackets it would have been about $1500 and completed in about 3 months. I said all of that to say this........IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO DO INVISALIGN, DO IT....if you want a quick and inexpensive fix then GO WITH BRACKETS

one more thing, it is healthier to go with Invislign because you have to remove them to brush, floss and eat therefore cleaning better, brackets and flossing does not go together....too complicated.
Reply:We charge $2700 for a limited Invisalign case and the retainer is included.

Invisalign TEETH!!!?

I had invisalign braces... for two years I believe. Well I'm done with them now. But I Always wear them as retainer all day every day - because I still have a little gap in my teeth. Nothing major, just a little one and I'm insecure about it. I'm kinda dissapointed and that invisalign was a failure because it did not close my GAP all the way.

Any way to get them closed if I go see my dentist? Is there something like "spacers" what people have to space their teeth - except things that closes the gap??

Any suggestions?

Invisalign TEETH!!!?
thats what Lauren Hutten uses.

Your teeth will move with age- and don't worry about it. Be thankful you have teeth and something to smile about.
Reply:Sorry....I dont know but you could call your dentist and ask. And as far as the invisalign go, yes the suck, i also had them for two years and it didnt make my teeth much better. But i feel better now knowing I'm not the only one and that I didnt screw something up:)....but good luck!

Invisalign Express Question?

Hello everyone. I would appreciate input from anyone that has had the invisalign express procedure done. Yesterday, I went in for a consultation and they gave me a figure of $5500 for the Invisalign Express treatment. Also, my bottom teeth are straight. It's just my top set of teeth that need a little straightening. Therefore, I asked if it was okay that I just do the top set of teeth instead of top and bottom in hopes of getting a cheaper rate. However, they told me that they could not do only the top. For anyone that knows, is it true that you cannot just have the top set of teeth done. That you have to have both top and bottom completed for so called alignment reasons? Also, is $5000 too expensive for the "Express" treatment. I was under the impression that Express would be quite cheaper than the regular treatment. I would appreciate input. Thanks!

Invisalign Express Question?
The price is about right. As for moving only the top, sorry but it can't be done.

If your teeth are out of alignment on the top needing correcting, the bottoms aren't in alignment either even though they may look straight they will need to be shifted along with the uppers so each fit together, bringing them into perfect alignment simultaneously. They both have to be shifted together or at the same time, in order to correct your bite.

If you are unsure of this orthodontist, have a consult with another one. Find one you trust for your orthodontic treatment. You have to trust him to do the right treatment for your individual case and for the best dental health for you, after all, he is the expert. Good luck! You will love your new smile!
Reply:actually. im surprised it only costs $500 more...tradiotional ones cost about $5000, give or take...and invisalign is only $500 more?! i thought it would be quite abit more...so basically for getting 'braces' no, that is not an out-of-the-norm price

also, if he suggests you get both top and bottom done...get them done because they are the experts

believe me, most of the time you dont see anything wrong with one of your rows of teeth but there are tons of things that you just dont even know about! youll see changes and you begin the procedure and get a few months into it( or maybe even less)

i know that for the regular brace sit is possible to only have top or bottom down...but im not 100% sure about invisalign

and i also dont know is the "express" actually means anything...i honestly think that it would take just as long as the regular invisalign do. (the average time for regular brace son is about 18 months to let you kknow)

but even if you DO end up gttting top and bottom, be happy! you will ghave perfect teeth...and youllactually get to have invialign so you dont have to see and horrible metal!

hope this was somewhat informative

Invisalign vs. metal braces?

I'm 13. I've never been to the orthodontist in my life, and I have always had a HUGE space between my front teeth, and smaller spaces between almost every other tooth. So it really bothers me about how my teeth look. I have a perfect bite: the spaces are the only things I would want to fix. What are my other options for closing my spaces? Oh and, I don't have any insurance except for maybe Sliding Scale.

Which is quicker: Invisalign or metal braces (etc.)?

Which costs less: Invisalign or metal braces

Which will show better results?

and also, I have an appointment with the orthodontist in 3 weeks.

Invisalign vs. metal braces?
Metal braces are going to cost less, and at 13 they aren't going to stand out as much. If you were 23, then I would suggest invisalign.

Also, go to the orthodontist first. You need to find out if invisalign could even work for you!!

Nothing is going to happen quickly. The best suggestion is to just go with metal braces.

I have to say, you are quite the mature 13 year old!
Reply:Invisalign may not be an option if your teeth are severly spaced and seeking extreme movement.
Reply:You need regular braces. You don't want your mom nagging at you to wear your invisalign. Regular braces work faster as well. Costs are pretty much equal.
Reply:metal braces are quicker and cheaper. the only plus side to invisaline is being invisible. especially since you have a perfect bite, metal is the way to go
Reply:okay, invisalign only works for minor movement. my teeth were too out of whack for them. don't be afraid of the orthodontist. chances are he is a really nice guy. metal braces are not as bad as they seem, many people get them. i don't know about cost though.
Reply:I just had an orthodontists appointment last week.

Every case is different for invisilign, if you only have to correct the space between your teeth and nothing else is misaligned then it might only take 12 weeks (if your teeth are perfectly straight). They might tell you not to get invisilign because you're 13 and your mouth is still growing. Metal braces might be more what they'll suggest. The metal is cheaper, depends on how much time you'll need invisilign, they charge by length of time. Starts at 2,000 and goes upward.

The results will be the same.
Reply:metal braces
Reply:I would recommend metal braces for you, invisalign are more focused on adults because they want to keep it clear and not showing becuz its kinda embarrassing for adults to wear metal braces.

What is quicker? Invisalign probably for sure.

Invis~ cost 1.5 - 9 grand but insurance may cover 1.5-2 grand

Metal braces - typical cost is 3-7 grand

Im pretty sure metal braces show better results simply because they are permanent, the invis~ you need to take off and on when eating and all, then cleaning them, this doesnt keep the teeth together.

I had metal braces for about a year and fixed my teeth good, it didnt hurt to "install" but took a while and they hurt at first when you wear them fora bout a week, also hurt when you get fixes and when they make it stronger, etc.

invisalign is for minor movement and may not be an option if ur teeth are really messed up, you gotta talk with them first

Invisalign and OrthoClear Invisible Braces for a low price? Under $4000?

I wish to get some dental work done on my lovely teeth. I dont have major teeth problems but i do have some minor spacing which i wish to get fixed with Invisalign or OrthoClear, the invisible braces. I am 18 years old and will be transferring out into USC this coming fall of 2007. I went to a dentist and said my spacing was very minor and would only take about 7 months to fix for a total price of $4200 or so. I need a lower price and I know that for a direct figure i should go to see different dentists personally but i need to know of how i can maximize my chances of paying a low price. I'm in southern california in the city of Norwalk.

I was told OrthoClear was less expensive than Invisalign yet I checked the OrthoClear website today and it seems that OrthoClear has been bought out and are now closed. As a college student I wish for a lower price than $4200. HELP IN ANY WAY?

Invisalign and OrthoClear Invisible Braces for a low price? Under $4000?
[X] You should go to a university that has a dental school. The price will be about $2800 in Charleston, SC and Columbia, SC. Sure the students do the work; but under supervision.
Reply:I live in Palm Springs CA. I had Invisalign for a little over 6 months. And I had them changed every 2 weeks for the first 3 months. And then every 3 weeks for the next 3 months. I paid a total of $3800.00. I would suggest you check the web site for the board of Orthodontist in S CA. The first one I saw gave me a price of $5600. Big difference. The only problem is you have to personally go see the Orthodontist to get the price quotes I know it can be a pain, but when you are talking about a difference of almost $2000.00 it is worth it. My teeth like yours were really not that bad just some minor spacing. But I felt a whole lot better about myself after I did the Invisalign. The Ortho Clear went out of business because they were a cheap imitation of the Invisalign, and although they worked. Did not work as well, and took longer. You might also get a discount once you are a collage student. That some times can make a difference. If you have any questions about the invisalign. You can email me through Yahoo answers, and I would be glad to let you know any thing I know.

Good Luck.
Reply:You may want to consider going to a dental school for treatment. I believe that USC actually has a school that you can go to. Most of these programs have an Orthodontic Residency Program. Usually work done at a school or a hospital residency program is considerably cheaper. The work might take a little longer, but you can usually get good quality work done for half the price. And if you are a student there, it might be covered under your student insurance!

It is true OrthoClear was actually just bought out last week by Invisalign.
Reply:I WISH I NEED THEM

Invisalign issue?

Anyone who's gone through Invisalign treatment, once you went in to get the molds taken, how long did it take for you to start the Invisalign procedure?

I got the molds taken back in middle November, I think they said 8 weeks before the trays would be made and ready to go. It's now almost February. Did it take this long for anyone else? And why so long?

Invisalign issue?
I worked for a dental office that did invisalign. and we always got them back in 4-8 weeks. I would call the dentist office, someone may have submitted info. wrong. or they could be there, but overlooked.

Do the Invisalign Express braces work?!?

I went to an Orthodontist and asked her about Invisalign, she said that i would be using them just for my upper teeth and that i "MIGHT" qualify for the xpress treatement, but the only way to know was by me paying $300 for the impressions and sending them to Invisalign....where they can determine if my case is "express" or not....(NOTE HERE... there is a $2500 difference between the xpress n regular invisalign)

It seemed like a scam to me...like, for double the money, why not say it s not, right?

Please tell me if you were an express case! i m seriously considering them, but i want to make a smart decision since i have to pay 100% w/o insurance coverage

Do the Invisalign Express braces work?!?
having worked with dentist for over 10 years, here is my personal take on invisiline. If your teeth need very minimal correcting you will be fine. However if you dont allow adequate time in braces the teeth can and may shift. Conventional braces may not be the most appealing however overall long term results from cases I have personally seen, they seem to have the best results.
Reply:If your case qualifies for Invisalign, it will work beautifully. Unlike what some people say, Invisalign can work for more than just minor adjustments.

Currently, the Invisalign corporation does not charge a dentist to submit a case as Express. Here's what I'd do:

1. Ask your dentist if he/she will subtract the $300 from the case fee if you accept treatment. If not..

2. Go find a general dentist who will do the case submission for free. Find a general dentist who has been doing Invisalign for a few years, or one who does more than 25 or 30 cases per year.

For the record, it costs the dental office to take those records. Impression material and x-rays are expensive and the dentist deserves to get paid. However, $300 is a bit high.

Invisalign retainers or metal ones?

I have had invisalign for 6 months and the retainer they gave me was my last trays.. I asked for a metal retainer but my dentist said he doesn't like those. Which is cheaper and more comfortable? Also am I even allowed to get metal retainers sense I paid for invisalign?

Invisalign retainers or metal ones?
I have the invisalign and they suck.

They do discolor. Really bad.

I think I would have rather gotten the metal retainers more. My orthodontist did not give me an option on what i wanted either.
Reply:In my opinion, the metal ones are more cost effective and better. The invisilign ones I have found discolor and are more expensive. Unless you are modeling or something and new clear teeth... lol

Regarding the whether you are allowed - you are allowed to get whatever you want - depends on your insurance and doctors policy I suppose.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:It doesn't matter what your dentist likes, it's up to you. I had metal braces to align my teeth and use a clear plastic retainer (like invisalign) to retain my teeth in their current position. I wish I had went the invisalign route, but at the time those where way more expensive.

I am not sure which is less expensive now, simply ask your dentist. The invisaligns are so much more comfortable, you don't have to worry about your gums becoming all cut up and you can floss easier. Plus you can remove them at any time.

Again, its up to you, your dentist and your insurance (if you are using one) to adjust the price for switching.

Invisalign help??
I am currently wearing my last set of invisalign out of 10 sets.. and I could not be happier! If you have minimal crowding and would like to straighten your teeth, not correct your bite, invisalign is perfect. Some people say that it may be more expensive then braces.. I disagree. Invisalign was actually cheaper for me then having metal braces for 2 years. In most cases it's around the same price. My teeth had slight crowding but were not that bad, most people thought I already had had braces and just never wore my retainer afterwards. When I went for my consultation the orthodontist told me I was a candadate for Invisalign Express. Most people are not awear of this because most need more dental work. Regular invisalign takes about a year with 20 sets (top and bottom). Invisalign Express uses 10 sets, takes 6 - 8 months (depending on how long your Dr. thinks each set should be in) AND.. is half the price! Invisalign for me was only 3,000 dollars and plenty of payment plans! It could be cheaper or more expensive depending on how many sets you need.. some people get 20 sets for the top and 15 for the bottom.. it all depends. I'm 22 years old and there was NO WAY I was going to wear metal in my mouth for 2 years and head gear at night for 6,000 dollars just to correct my MINOR overbite and slightly crowded teeth. The first set is a little painful but the more you wear them the less it hurts. I go in to see my orthodontist before every new set (he gave me all of them my first visit) and he checks to make sure my teeth moved ok into the liners I wear for 2 to 3 weeks, and with double sided sand paper he goes inbetween my teeth like floss and files them slightly to make room for the next set. This is called stripping and if you can tolerate your regular dental cleanings where they scrape your teeth and remove plaque then youll be fine. I had a little lisp at first but that went away after a day. I love that no one has ever been able to see them! People always ask me if I even have them on. Only down side is.. I have to carry a little toothbrush and travel size tooth paste with me in my purse or bag for school EVERYWHERE. You need to take them out before having anything but water, otherwise you will be well on your way to rotting your teeth out the best possibly fit way lol. Sugar and other things get stuck and if they sit so close to your teeth it will cause them to decay. So if I go out to eat I use the ladies room to remove them, rinse them before putting them away and come back after Im eating to brush my teeth AND my liners because they do have dried saliva on them. Gross I know.. but WAY better then having a mouth full of metal and food stuck in hard to reach places. I say if you can afford it and your teeth aren't that bad.. GO FOR IT! It works and I love my smile!
Reply:i have no idea but i want them myself
Reply:I'm gonna say close to a year and probably in the ballpark of 3500 and 4000. I just went to a ceritifcation on invisalign and they said if your teeth have more than 2mm it would take a year or so.

Invisalign covered by Insurance?

I am 16 and have seiously messed up, crowded teeth. My parents don't have much money to work with. I have job and have begun saving money but i was just wondering if insurance would cover invisalign. Over the past year or so, I have saved up close to a thousand dollars so these reports of $5000+ for invisalign are really starting to depress me. I was wondering how much of the cost would be covered by insurance. I really need help because my smile, or lack there of, is affecting how people treat me. I really don't want to have a crooked smile, especially with college and serious carreer interviews coming in my future. Help me please?

Invisalign covered by Insurance?
Hope I was there to help you. I dont thing it is covered by insurance.
Reply:Usually not covered by insurance because they consider it cosmetic. To find out for sure call your insurance company and ask. Their number is on the back of your insurance card.
Reply:Good for you on saving for your new beautiful smile! Each insurance plan is different, so the best thing to do is to call the customer service # for your insurance carrier and ask. They will be able to tell you if any ortho coverage is available under your plan. Have you seen an orthodontist who has recommended invisalign? If not, you may want to set up a consult with an orthodontist (its usually free) to see what kind of treatment will be best for you. Invisalign does not work for everyone, especially if you have major misalignment of teeth. Most orthodontists have payment plans available to help finance your treatment over the length of your treatment. Hope this helps and good luck! A beautiful smile is worth it! =)
Reply:I hope I have the answer for you!

I know a dental coverage program that accepts ongoing dental problems, unless your orthodontic treatment is already in progress, if you haven't started them yet, i'm sure they will cover it.

for only $20 a month, your entire family is covered and you get 60% off the costs of orthodontic treatment! It's not insurance, but a discount dental card.

Invisalign treatment length?

Ok so I'm about to get invisalign, initial + clincheck taken care of but I've gotta wait 5 weeks for Invisalign to analyse my teeth and formulate a treatment plan. Usually the alligners change your back teeth (molars and such) first, then the front teeth. Apparantly though my bite is good, just my front teeth are crooked. Just wondering if anyone had a case similar to this and how long their treatment took?

Invisalign treatment length?
Only my front teeth needed movement (eye tooth to eye tooth) so I was considered an "express" case and it took 10 aligners or 20 weeks. I now have a lingual wire retainer cemented behind the teeth that were moved just to ensure that they don't revert to their original positions!
