Hey I need some help,
I just got my braces off today and the dentist (to my suprise) gave me a regular (I think hawleys?) retainer.... Because my friends have mostly gotten an invisalign type retainer, I asked why I must use the giant ugly one..... His response was that "the invisalign doesnt work as well." I HATE this thing!!!! its awful, it takes up a huge amount of the inside of my mouth, is ugly, and I sound awful when I speak.... Its worse then braces (a lot worse.)
After doing some research, I havent been able to find anything about the invisalign being inferior, however I have sen that doctors possibly dont make as much on the Invisalign then the normal retainer....
So is my dentist full of bull or does this suffering have some sort of warrant?
Invisalign vs. Regular Retainer??
It does depend on what type of movement your teeth need to have. But my office does invisalign and its great. I hope to have it soon. I know it does depend on the movement you need. but Invisalign gives great results.
Reply:Well.. it sounds like bull to me.
The invisalign type retainers is all the dentists use around where I live.
I think they work great.
Reply:Hi!
I much prefer to use the invisalign reainers bec. that really works... my bestfriend had it a year ago without having his braces his teeth were perfectly straightened.... invisalign is a new type of braces.... it is almost invisible and it doesnt matter the way u speak... but u have to remove it before u eat... it keeps the teeth to is place.... it costs much than retainers... 4 more infos about invisalign you may want to search it on the web to find out how does it work...
hope that i helpdÜ
Reply:It's possible that your othodontist doesn't work with invisalign. Therefore he's going to tell you they don't work or aren't effective. I had braces when i was in the third grade, but my bottom teeth slightly shifted because i neglected to wear my retainers. I'm now 20 years old and i went back to my orthodontist asking for invisalign and he only had negative things to say about it, he also suggested i get the regular braces again. I decided to consult a different ortho who highly recommended invisalign. I am now on my second week and so far its great. Since my teeth were not bad to begin with I'm only going to have it in for 4 months and surprisingly it wasn't as expensive as i thought it would be. I paid 4,000. I also haven't experience much pain or sensitivity. You might have sore teeth for the first two days, but thats normal.
hope this helps.
