Question for Invisalign users?

I've just gotten Invisalign and was told not to eat or drink anything but water while I'm wearing them. I work in a coffee shop, so it is really hard for me to not sip coffee while at work. So, has any Invisalign users ever tried to eat or drink something other then water while wearing them? And if you did, what happened?

Question for Invisalign users?
The reason that you should not drink beverages with a heavy stain while wearing Invisalign is because the clear plastic can stain easily. Also drinking hot beverages like coffee can actually warp the trays as well, because the plastic can deform at higher temperatures. If you want to drink some coffee with your trays in either have ice coffee or drink it at room temperature, then remove the trays and rinse them and your mouth really well. The best suggestion is to remove the trays while drinking the coffee, rinse your mouth and trays out well and put them back in as soon as possible.
Reply:They stain and bacteria gets trapped under the Invisalign and you can get cavities easier.
Reply:Don't have Invisalign but went for consultation w/ ortho. She asked me if I drank coffee/red wine and I said not that often. She said good, because it could stain, that and dark juices like grape. She told me if I needed to have wine/coffee, drink w/ a straw.

That being said I would probably try to phase out coffee eventually for green or herbal tea.
Reply:As others have already told you, it's because it will stain the trays and the whole point to Invisalign is that nobody can really tell that you're wearing them. If they are stained, people will notice them. I've had patients tell me that they tend not to snack or drink coffee/soda while they are wearing their trays, almost like a forced diet.
