Invisalign for teeth?

Has anyone tried Invisalign? How long does it take to work...longer/shorter than braces, about the same time? Is it really unnoticeable like they claim? Approximately how much does it cost? I'm assuming insurance wont cover, is that right? Any info would be helpful

Invisalign for teeth?
Im going to..and Ashley is right! it will cost me $7000...my dentist charged me $5900 for the aligners and $900 for the retention on my lower teeth...and reatainer on my top teeth w/c is part of the $5900 (retainer and retention worn only after the treatment)....But everyone is different depending on how many aligners you need. Mine will take me from 9-12 mos... You will know how much will it cost you after you undergo for the invisalign pre-treatment consultation (mines' $295) they'l deduct later if you'll proceed with the whole treatment. I also went in for a free consultation the very 1st time before all these....About your concern, its really unnoticeable the dentist showed it to me. Hope this helps...Hope somebody can tell me also if these are all normal charges, somebody who actually did it. Coz i dont wanna pay again another initial fee before il be given another estimate. Thanks.
Reply:a lot of insurances now consider braces and such as "cosmetic" and most usually dont pay unlesss you have a special dental plan. They are around $7000 and and they take just as long as braces.. the only difference in method is that they are not able to be seen well at all. You still will have to pay for all the checkups along the way... im not sure those are included in the total cost.
Reply:You are right when you say insurance will not cover them. Not very many companies will, for the fact that they are more cosmetic. Insurance companies always choose the cheaper option. I have heard they work ok, if you are not trying to change too drastic. But if you have major issues you need to go with the old school style! No too sure on the cost, but I do know that they must be worn for a significantly longer time frame than original braces. Hope this helps, good luck!!
Reply:Invisalign can only work on small maloclusions ! It has a limit to what it can do! Although if you fall ito that minority it is good that you cant notice them! Invisalign costs between $3000-$5000

Insurance wont cover it as it is deemed "cosmetic"

Honestly I would go for metal braces or ceramic braces ... their cool too ! You could get lingual braces .... braces that are fitted at the back of the teeth !

Hope this helps

Reply:The above answers are innacurate. If you have an orthodontic benefit, it will pay for Invisalign exactly as it would for regular braces.

Invisalign - under the control of an experienced dentist - can do much more than just "minor adjustments." I've seen some amazing results.

It may cost LESS than regular braces and may take LESS time to complete treatment.

Talk to a dentist who had done many cases over a period of year for REAL answers. People here seem to be very uninformed.

Despite what some have said here, most general dentists charge LESS for Invisalign than for regular braces. I recently attended a national convention for Invisalign certified general dentists and NONE of them charged more than the typical local fee for metal braces.
Reply:Invisalign costs more then regular braces. It takes about the same amount of time, and they are practically un-noticeable.
