Braces or Invisalign in Military?? How does it work??

Braces or invisalign in military?? Anyone ever get braces while enlisted??

I need to get braces and I know I can't get them until after basic. But I am wondering if Invisalign is an option compared to the normal metal braces??

I am 20 and I wouldn't like it very much if I had to wear metal braces, but if I have to I will.

I actually wore braces before, but one side of my jaw is longer and is progressively got worse over the past 4 years. My teeth are now re-ruined since I have an asymmetrical face. Would I need to have surgery on my face too?? Would they cover that??

enlisted guy with braces here. invisalign is not an option if your trying to get completely free braces. if you want invisalign you would have to go it alone out of pocket.

as far as the free braces, you get old fashioned metal ones. you also have to meet strict criteria, not only with the condition of your teeth, but also your commitment to your duty location, ie, im in england on a four year tour, so they said yes...previously, i was on a two year tour and they said no, due to me leaving before the treatment would be done....if the doctor says you need surgery on your face, they will cover it...i had to have three teeth removed, and i am about to get jaw realignment surgery. if you hadnt figured it out my teeth were jacked. Also, as everyone in the military knows, they'll want to remove your wisdom teeth before they even consider braces
Reply:These are all questions that need to be taken up with the military itself. Try asking your Unit Sargent who you would go to in order to get answers to these questions. They really are there to help.
Reply:Worry about finishing Basic and AIT first!

When you get to yourf irst duty assignment, providing its not IRAQ!

Make an appointment to see the dentist, then take it from there!
