Invisalign - is it possible?

I am a college student considering invisalign. If i were to get it from my orthodontist, would i have to come back home from college every 2 weeks in order to change alligners? I would rather not do this, but if i could go every month or every 3 weeks this would be okay. Do you think this is possible? thanks

Invisalign - is it possible?
I think you get them all at once. My sister got year's worth ar once. There is no reason to keep coming back.
Reply:My sister in law had hers adjusted every month. Not every 2 weeks. Her teeth turned out perfect. It is really up to you and your dentist to set up a schedule for adjustments. They can be done when your able to get there .
Reply:I would consider getting a dentist/ orthodontist in your college area. that way if you do have an issue they are close to you, not at home near your parents.
Reply:I have heard of cases like yours. The patient is given the series of trays to use in sucession. I shouldn't think if you can go in every month, there would no problem with that. Even traditional braces are adjusted on a monthly basis.

Remember tho, 20 hours a day. No cheating!
Reply:Its every month. they usually give you 2 trays at a time but its not every two weeks at all.
Reply:We give patients 3 sets of trays at a time (that's 6 week's worth).

Invisalign braces.?

Okay, well I was thinking about getting braces lately. My teeth aren't bad at all, except the top one tooth is a teeny tiny bit crooked, and same with one of the bottom ones. I was just wondering how long it would take to correct it, since it's nothing majour or anything. and like I said I also want to use the invisalign braces, in case that makes a difference. ?

Invisalign braces.?
I'm sure you would not have to wear them long. I looked into getting Invisalign but it was going to take twice as long as wearing braces. I'm wearing braces for the second time because I had some spaces to open back up. I should have mine off in 6 months. Make an appointment with a orthodontic for a consultation. A lot of orthodontics offer a free consultation and some may charge a small fee.
Reply:It wouldn't take long at all, only a few weeks to a month i'd say, they work really quickly though afterwards you would have to get a retainer to make sure they stay straight. Get it done, it would make your confidence great! =]

Invisalign - how inconvenient/difficult? Worth it?

Thinking of starting invisalign, wanting opinions on difficulty, inconvenience, etc. I have a cross bite, and I've heard it might not be as successful, though apparently the dr. i went to see has a lot of expertise treating difficult cases. Thanks in advance.

Invisalign - how inconvenient/difficult? Worth it?
Invisalign is really cool! I love them, because there is really noone, who realized, that i wear the aligner. I never had any difficulties and it doesn´t hurt, like other braces often do. It´s good, because you can take them out, when you want to eat, maybe this is a difficulty, because you can´t do that, when other people are around, so i always go to the toilet, before eating... but it´s ok, and for me, all this is over in 3 month :) with the normal braces, i would even have to waer them one year longer.

By the way, my speech hasn´t been affected!
Reply:It's not inconvenient at all you go see your dentist as often as seeing an orthodontist. The difference between invisalign and regular braces is the "look". Personally, I think the clear trays that are used look strange and they affect your speech a bit.
Reply:to be quite honest invisalign is a rip off. you would save a lot more time and money just getting the clear braces. the invisalign wont treat cross bites, its more for very minor problems, they are like little trays and you have to get a new one made like every week.
Reply:You've already answered the most important question - how much experience does the dentist have...

Doctors who have used Invisalign for many cases tend to be very successful at getting predictable results.

Whether wire or plastic trays, your speech will be temporarily affected. Practice by reading aloud for a few minutes each day and the difficulty will disappear.

Cost-wise, I hear many people say Invisalign costs way more than traditional braces, but that has not been my experience. I recently attended a national event for general dentists who provide Invisalign for their patients. None of them charged more than orthodontists in their area charge for wire braces.

Invisalign retainer?

i just got my invisalign retainer. and it hurts! how is this different from a regualr meta retainer, and will i need to wear it forever, could i go a few weeks without it in?

Invisalign retainer?
DID YOU MEAN YOUR FIRST ALIGNER OR THE LAST RETAINER FOR INVISALIGN?

WHEN YOU FIRST START TO USE THE CLEAR ALIGNERS THEY WILL HURT FOR A DAY OR TWO UNTIL YOU GET USED TO HAVING IT IN YOUR MOUTH.

WHEN YOUR CASE IS COMPLETED YOU WILL RECEIVE A FINAL RETAINER WHICH WILL KEEP YOUR SMILE LOOKING GREAT FOR YEARS TO COME.

HOW?

YOU WEAR THE LAST RETAINER OVER NIGHT ABOUT ONCE PER WEEK AS OPPOSED TO WEARING IT 24/7 AS WITH THE ALIGNERS.

I WOULD NOT GO FOR SEVERAL WEEKS W/O IT BECAUSE IN THAT TIME THE TEETH CAN SHIFT TO MAKE INSERTION OF THE RETAINER IMPOSSIBLE.
Reply:i have had both, and i went about 2 weeks w/o it and it hurt alot. dont suggest it, wear it for a couple months while you sleep, and after probably 2 1/2 you can take a few day breaks and work up from there.

Invisalign braces vs. tratitional metal braces...?

Do they both do the same job? My dentist said that invisalign braces would work for me, but would the traditional metal braces do a better job? Or would the outcome pretty much be the same? thanks!

Invisalign braces vs. tratitional metal braces...?
there is a big difference between the two if you are asking about the effectivity of the appliance. invisalign is removable while the metal braces are fixed to the teeth. with invisalign you can remove it when you eat, when you want to clean it or sometimes just when you dont want to be seen wearing this --- with the metal braces you can not do these things.

if your teeth only needs minor re alignment then i guess this ok but when you really have a lot of things to be done with the teeth then the metal braces would be the best choice. your orthodontist really knows best...good luck...
Reply:HELLO,

THEY BOTH CAN DO A GOOD JOB, BUT THERE ARE PLUSES AND MINUSES TO EACH. ASK YOUR DENTIST.
Reply:invisalign, , braces are horrible and do a number on your jaw joints

Invisalign is not working for me. What are my options?

I have had them for about 2 years. I was told it would only take 8 months but they just don't seem to work! I wear them regularly.I have moved and changed from dentist to ortho, still not working! My first doc put buttons on it which helped a little but not much. My current ortho said it will work without buttons but i highly doubt it will. Since I was misdiagnosed, does any know what my options are and if invisalign or the doctor should refund my $5000?? Thanks!

Invisalign is not working for me. What are my options?
You say you wear them regularly? They should be worn all of the time with the "only exception" being when your eating or brushing and flossing. No, your money shouldn't be refunded if you haven't worn them correctly. If your condition was misdiagnosed? By who? Your doctor just takes the impression and sends it to Invisalign, they diagnosis and determine if your a candidate for their product. They are the one's who make the trays that you keep changing with. Are you changing trays correctly, and how many time have you changed trays? It sounds to me like you either don't have the Invisalign's product, or your not following the instructions of your dentist. Changing dentist won't help if this is the case. Good luck!
Reply:My brother also tried Invisalign - did not work. He had to get regular metal braces after.

I think someone should refund your money. It's unfair that so many people are being duped and tricked into paying for a product that doesn't work! If you can't get anywhere with Invisalign or your doctor, I'd file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Reply:I had invisalign and it worked well. My teeth were pretty bad, like monster teeth.

During your consult the doctor should of told you the outcome you can expect, usually a percentage for example 98% correction. If you did not get this you need to get your money back or at least some credit towards a new treatment.

By the way, I had buttons on the top and the bottom, I think a total of 14. Make sure you go to a good Ortho who has a lot of experience with invisalign. Invisilign can handle really complex cases but they need to be done by someone with experience.
Reply:First of all, you need to talk to your orthodontist and tell him that you are not happy with your results. You also need to read your contract and see what it says about re-treatment or refund.

Sometimes Invisalign patients do wind up in regular braces. If you come to our message board, you can hook up with other adults who have been in your situation and get some ideas regarding how to proceed. Many of our readers wear Invisalign, or did Invisalign before getting regular braces for a while.
