i just got my invisalign retainer. and it hurts! how is this different from a regualr meta retainer, and will i need to wear it forever, could i go a few weeks without it in?

DID YOU MEAN YOUR FIRST ALIGNER OR THE LAST RETAINER FOR INVISALIGN?
WHEN YOU FIRST START TO USE THE CLEAR ALIGNERS THEY WILL HURT FOR A DAY OR TWO UNTIL YOU GET USED TO HAVING IT IN YOUR MOUTH.
WHEN YOUR CASE IS COMPLETED YOU WILL RECEIVE A FINAL RETAINER WHICH WILL KEEP YOUR SMILE LOOKING GREAT FOR YEARS TO COME.
HOW?
YOU WEAR THE LAST RETAINER OVER NIGHT ABOUT ONCE PER WEEK AS OPPOSED TO WEARING IT 24/7 AS WITH THE ALIGNERS.
I WOULD NOT GO FOR SEVERAL WEEKS W/O IT BECAUSE IN THAT TIME THE TEETH CAN SHIFT TO MAKE INSERTION OF THE RETAINER IMPOSSIBLE.
Reply:i have had both, and i went about 2 weeks w/o it and it hurt alot. dont suggest it, wear it for a couple months while you sleep, and after probably 2 1/2 you can take a few day breaks and work up from there.
