Invisalign?

over christmas break i'am doing a major transformation. i'am getting invisalign and contacts. Does invisalign work just as well as metal braces and how long do I have to keep them?

Invisalign?
I currently have invisaligns. I have had them for about 18 months. My ortho. initally told me that it would take about 18 months, but it is going to take longer because I needed an adjustment midway and the company has taken a long time to get the next set to me.

They are working very well though. I love them because no one notices them unless I point them out. Also, you don't have to worry about food in your teeth. And you can take them out if you have a special date or event where you don't want to talk funny. OH yeah, sometimes I sound funny when I get a new set. They are not painful, just slightly uncomfortable on the first day of your new set.

I love them. My teeth already look great to me.
Reply:I'm a nurse. They work just as good. Make sure they give you all the info you need.
Reply:they are said to work as well, and perhaps better, then metal braces, a great feature is that you can remove them to clean your teeth,,,,, the length of time you wear them depends on your teeth, a year to year and a half is standard,, which is actually less then most wear the metal ones,,, best of luck with your transformation! my daughter is getting invisalign after the first of the year,, so i have read alot about them,,,,
Reply:My orthodontist told me that work just as good, but if you need to make adjustments, you have to get a whole new set, where if you have metal braces, they can just adjust the wire on the metal. Different people have to wear them for different amounts of time. It really depends on how quickly your teeth move.
Reply:Yes, invisalign works well. The length of time is determined by your teeth. If you only need your teeth moved slightly then it won't take long. If you need more movement then expect longer. Usually around 18 mos.
Reply:i heard they work very well. you will probably have to wear them longer then actual braces. But that's the trade off for being less noticeable then metal braces. all your questions will be better answered by the orthodontist. i believe they cost slightly more then metal braces too.
Reply:i had invisalign for a year and a half and it does work. how long you will have them depends on how badly you need to straighten your teeth. i liked them b/c you could take them off to eat and brush your teeth. much better then braces!
Reply:they work just as well except for problems with over/under bites. usually bout a yr...

Invisalign???

I wanted to know if invisalign gave u a lisp?? because one time i was talking to someone who had them on and it sounded like they had a lisp. and i might get invisalign so i dont want a lisp... anyone know if they will give u a lisp??

Invisalign???
all retainers have a lisp. but the lisp only last for a month or two and then your mouth gets used to pronouncing the"s" letter with the retainer in your mouth. I wouldnt get invisaline. Over time the "invisible" material gets yellow due to bacteria and you cant get it off. I would just go with the normal retainer.
Reply:HI,

HAVING ANYTHING IN YOUR MOUTH MAY CAUSE YOU TO LISP. DENTURE WEARERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME UNTIL THEY GET USE TO IT. YOU WILL TOO, OR YOU MAY NOT HAVE A LISP.
Reply:Most people get used to wearing the aligners within a day or two. It helps to read aloud for half an hour or so each day to practice.

The aligners will not "get yellow" unless you don't care for them properly. Following instructions will keep the material clean and fresh until time to change them for the next set.
Reply:don't get its just gross. just get braces there better, ur teeth will look betta, and u won't have to take out a retainer everytime u eat.
Reply:yes i have a slight lisp but its not a big deal, the outcome is totally worth it! having a slight lisp for about a year is not bad compared to not having a lisp and wearing metal braces for about two years??? hmmmm.... i think i prefer my invisalign :) good luck!

Invisalign?

I am almost 15, and i have never had braces although i despretly need them. My mom has talked to the dentist/orthodontist and he said that i would have to get 4 teeth pulled because of the crowding. My teeth are pretty crooked, and i was just wondering whether invisalign would be able to work. And is invisalign covered by insurance?

Invisalign?
I just got invisalign today!!!! woohooo!

According to my orthodontist invsalign does work on crowding, but it does depend on the case.

Your dentist would know best if it will work in your case, and if he is not positively sure, he can refer to the invisalign lab.

If you are a candidate your dentist can provide you with before and after shots of what your teeth will look like and you can decide for yourself whether the results are acceptable.

In my case my dentist was a bit wary because I had bottom crowding but not top crowding, which is more difficult to correct with invisalign. We weren't sure if I was going to be a candidate. But I was!!! After I saw the predicted after pics, I went with invisalign. My teeth are going to be straight and perfect.... no more crowding!!

However it is true that most dentists prefer conventional braces, because they work better in some cases.

If you're only 15 go ahead and get the braces if you think they will provide better results, I'm 25 and didn't want the metal myself.

Also, Invisalign works faster than braces. (Not the other way around).

Be sure to ask your dentist about after you take them off , if you will always have to wear a retainer. This is sometimes the case.

I will only have my invisalign for 7 months. I would have had to wear braces for almost 2 years.

Oh and it does not cost more if you need more stages!!!!!

You are guaranteed the predicted results, if it does not work exactly as promised you will get the other stages free, because you are owed what you are promised.

As for the insurance, it depends on what insurance you have. In some cases they will opt to pay the lesser fee. I got lucky.. My invisalign cost was $5000, my braces would have also cost $5000. However have your mom check with her insurance company. One phone call and you could have a definite answer.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Reply:Invisalign is a technique for orthodontic movement. It is usually reserved for the easier cases. If your orthodontist recommended a four bicuspid extraction, it is to create space so the rest of the teeth can line up. This is very common. Don't look at Invisalign as a problem solver. It is just another technique to move teeth.

DDS 33 years
Reply:Invisalign is used to move teeth, but dont move teeth as quick as metal braces, Obviously you will feel uncomfortable with braces (metal ones if you end up gettin them) but there worth it and dont look bad seen as half of the world has them :) .
Reply:Invisalign would not be my first choice/ If your teeth are that crowded you would be better off getting reg. braces/ The fee would be set. They have clear brackets now that you can hardly see. Invisilign works in stages. You get only so many and each one after costs more. So you never really know the final cost and even if it will work. I would hate to see anyone get caught paying that much money and still have the crowding.
Reply:YOU HAVE TO ASK YOUR ORTHODONTIST TO SEE IF YOUR SITUATION QUALIFIES FOR INVISALIGN BECAUSE NOT EVERY CASE DOES.

Invisalign?

im 14 and I went to the dentsist a couple days ago and i was so worried that i was gonna need jaw surgery or braces for my overbite cause i thought i had a big one. So that dentist looked in my mouth and said i didnt need jaw surgery for 2 reasons

1. Im way to young

2.I have a class 1 overbite which is an "Ideal" bit

therfore i dont need anybraces or jaw surgery for that .. yay!

But he noticed something that non of my other dentists have every comented on and i've had since i was like 6. One of my front bottom teeth has a crossbite and the 3 teeth are a little crowded. My dentist said i would be a good candidate for invisalign. This is so good news cause i can get a hollywodd smile with out medal on my teeth. But i have a couple questions about invisalign. Does it hurt when u put it in and take it out? is it comfortable? does it cost similar to normal braces? to u have to wear a retainer after the treatment? are then better then normal braces? please answer my queestions. :) :) :)

Invisalign?
Ali

I had Invisalign 3 years ago and my teeth look great. To answer your questions.

1. It doesn't hurt but I did experience discomfort (but not pain) when I put in each new aligner. I had 20 aligners which I changed every 2 weeks. The feeling is very tight for the first 6 hours for each new aligner so put them in just before going to bed. By morning your teeth have moved slightly to ease the discomfort.

2. Once your teeth are moving they become mobile so I felt more comfortable with the aligners in.

3. Cost tends to be slightly more than braces but depends on what your doctor charges.

4. You need to wear a retainer after treatment - irrespective of how your teeth are moved. You need to wear this according to what your doctor says until your teeth become stable. I wear my retainer every 2nd or 3rd night now (3 years after treatment) but used to wear them every night.

5. Invisalign has certain advantages and disadvantages compared to braces. If your treatment is complex then you may not be able to be treated only with Invisalign but need a shortened time in braces to deal with some issues.

Hope this helps.
Reply:hey im 15! and im kind of in a similar situation as you. i wanted to get invisalign so i did a little research. invisalign is really comfortable, you'll forget its even there. you also get to take them off to eat, brush, and floss. the cost should be anywhere from $3000 to $5000 depending on how severe your teeth are. i dont think a retainer is required but you go to the dentist once every 6 weeks for them to check up on the process and to give you the new aligners. you replace them every 2 weeks. i think they are better than braces. you get the benefits of straighting your teeth without uncomfortable metal stuff in your mouth. they're also great sports, since im a cheerleader, traditional braces is just asking for trouble. so invisalign is perfect for me. AND YOU. good luck!

Invisalign?

I'm 13. I've never been to the orthodontist in my life, and I have always had a HUGE space between my front teeth, and smaller spaces between almost every other tooth. So it really bothers me about how my teeth look. I have a perfect bite: the spaces are the only things I would want to fix. What are my other options for closing my spaces? Oh and, I don't have any insurance except for maybe Sliding Scale.

Which is quicker: Invisalign or metal braces (etc.)?

Which costs less: Invisalign or metal braces

Which will show better results?

Invisalign?
Invisalign is a great product if you are a good candidate, which would need to be determined by an Invisalign provider. Usually you can have a free consultation. I would recommend having a consult with someone about the Invisalign, as well as then going to your ortho consult. Invisalign is actually usually much shorter treatment time, average is 11 months, usually cost is very similar. Although, if your treatment is fairly simple there is a less expensive Invisalign program, called "Invisalign Express". Treatment time for that is 5-6 months on average. I am currently wearing the Invisalign and love them, love the results. It's great to be able to take them in and out to eat, and no one ever notices that I have them.
Reply:Okay....

Braces are quicker. (Invisalign takes twice as long). I think Braces cost less (I would have to ask my mom) I know Invisalign cost about 3000 dollars. I used to have Braces and they worked great. I love my teeth now.Braces aren't as big of a pain that some people say. Good luck!

Invisalign...??

i talked to my dentist today and he said i need braces or invisalign i would have them for one and a half years. My brother has braces and it costs us $90 a month. How much will invisalign be each month?

thanks.

Invisalign...??
By "us" I assume you mean your family - as in your parents are paying.

Your dentist will likely make a recommendation on which treatment (braces or Invisalign) will give the best results.

In most dental offices, payment plans work like this: A substantial down payment of 25% to 30%. The rest of the amount is divided by the months of expected treatment (less any insurance).

So for example: Treatment cost is $4000. Down payment of 25% would be $1000. $3000 would remain to be financed. If you will be in treatment for 12 months, the payments would be $250 per month. More down payment would, of course, reduce the monthly payments.
Reply:it depends on your insurance and what they cover. I havent seen too many invisalign cases last more than 1 year, but if you have a choice, go with invisalign. In my opinion its easer on the teeth and on you, you dont have to have anything cemented to your teeth and its not noticable so you wont be self conscious about them. The office should be able to tell you how much they cost and how much you will have to pay out of pocket.

In my experience metal braces can cost as much as 6 or 7000. In the office I work at invisalign is 3-4000.
Reply:Generally, Invisalign costs the same as traditional braces, and sometimes more.

When you say you are paying $90 a month, it sounds like you are on some sort of plan. I will give you the real costs. Two years of regular metal braces costs about $5,000 on average in the USA. Ceramic braces cost more, and Invisalign can cost more as well, depending on your orthodontist.

Invisalign?

I live in London and dental treatment is usually free for under 16. (not sure - it might be 18).

Anyway, my orthodontist said i needed braces and i saw on one of the posters outside the building that they do invisalign as well as metal braces.

I would prefer invisalign and am only 13 so i was wondering - do u think i can get them for free?

i am doing 2 ask my doc in the next visit.

if not what is the normal price? ( for a 13 yr old).

any comments/ info would be great.

thanx

Invisalign?
It wont cost you anything if your under 16 so cost isnt an issue. If you need braces you may need fixed ones rather than invisalign. You can get clear ones though which is what i had. They are a nuisance at first but i soon got used to them and they didnt bother me during the two years i wore them. I would say if you need them then please get them now as i waited till i was 30 and spent my whole adolescent life being conscious of my teeth. It destroyed my confidence. Being brave and getting braces was the best thing i ever did. You can Mail me if you have any more questions, i would be happy to help x
Reply:I am in the United States and Invisalign is not covered under dental on my policy. I would have to get regular old ugly braces which I haven't done yet... saving up for the invisalign my advice is visit the website and ask them. You are very lucky if you get it for free.
Reply:I think invisalign is a great idea, but you have to be very dedicated to wearing them. It's very easy to take them off and leave them off when it's uncomfortable or convenient. The traditional kind you don't have that option...

Invisalign!!!!!!!!!!?

how much would it cost me to fix my teeth using invisalign if my teeth are like this

look at the web site

Invisalign!!!!!!!!!!?
no, the puppy person knows what shes talking about. i HAVE invisalign. and it costs 200 dollars for the top set, but i dont have the bottom. but its probably 200, too.
Reply:It will probably cost you at least $1500. You will need more than one set of trays to fix the bottom. You need to see an orthodontist to get the definite price but from working in an orthodontic office that is the minimum. It is usually more expensive than braces and the average price for braces is about $4500. If they tell you $200 that may be per tray or it probably isn't Invisalign. Good luck.
Reply:Well just guessing from the pictures from the clincheck that you showed. I am guessing your case would take about 9-12 months to complete the average US price for this is around 4-5 thousand dollars. I have Invisalign and I have to have mine for 6 months and my price was about 3,500 dollars to complete. Invisalign are great and I wish I would have done it alot sooner. I am pleased with the results so far and I am still in treatment
Reply:today i just called my dentist asking for the price on invisalign, he told me that he doesnt know cause he hasnt done my x-rays so then i asked him what was the highest price he has charged someone and he said like around 2 thousand .. but i dont know if that was with insurance or not.. so tomorrow i have an appointment at 2! so hopefully its not that expencive cause i really want invisalign. I just heard that u have to brush your teeth before and after you drink and eat something. THAT SUCKS!!! im always drinking water and all kinds or fruity stuff.

Invisalign?

Okay so i was recently at the dentist and asked him about invisalign. He said that i was a candidate because i had all of my teeth and the correction wouldn't need to b too severe. (I'm fourteen if that makes a difference for anything.) But my question is should i get the invisalign or regular braces. I'd rather have invisalign for the sake of not having to have metal on my teeth. But i researched about it and many people ended up unhappy with their results. Also i was wondering if i should get it from an orthodontist or dentist, or if it matters. So anyone who has had it or knows a lot about it information on it would be great. thanks.

Invisalign?
I did invisalign and I loved them. They have their setbacks, one being you cant eat when you have them in but i found that to be a good thing since it prevented me from unhealthy snacking. They hurt a bit when you first start a new tray but after a day your teeth adjust and it doesn't hurt anymore. I believe they are more expensive then braces but overall they are much better. I was in my 20's when i got them so there were reason why i didn't get braces that maybe don't apply to a 14 y/o. And yes you need an orthodontist not a dentist.
Reply:With invisilign you can get them from either. All they do is take molds of your teeth and a computer at the factory spits out molds for increasingly straightening your teeth. I would recommend just going with braces. You're only 14 and if your teeth aren't too bad then it may only take a year or two. Braces come fairly camouflaged now as well if you're worried about having "metal mouth."
Reply:It really doesn't matter who you get it from as your impressions are sent to invisalign and they are the ones that create your trays. As far as which one I would choose I would go with the traditional braces from an orthodontist...they take less time and cost half as much! You pay for convenience.
Reply:I would go with the tried and true braces. There are more drawbacks to invisaligns.

Invisalign?

anyone know some general things about the invisalign braces? i am 19 years old and i am looking into getting invisalign. the idea of going off to college with a mouth full of metal isn't pleasant.

do they work for everyone? or only certain cases? my teeth aren't THAT bad. my bottom teeth look just fine (very, very mild crowding with the two front bottom teeth, but that is all) but my top teeth have just a little more problems. my two front teeth on the top haven't completely bonded together and there is a little more minor crowding right next to it. the molars look fine on both the top and bottom teeth, though.

do you think invisalign could work for me? have you had invisalign before? were you happy with it? etc

all answers are appreciated

Invisalign?
Get invisalign express...less trays, less time, under a year, alleviate any mild rotations or crowding, consult your dentist... or me (an ortho dental student)
Reply:I know this is an old answer but I just HAD to comment on Lycanthrope777's answer. She obviously has NO idea what she is talking about in this area, because more often then not braces ARE for health reasons. They help change abnormal bites to healthy ones and much more! Report It

Reply:Sounds like your teeth look good enough to not need them. Braces (and invisalign) are just for cosmetic purposes- nobody actually "needs" braces to be healthier. If you absolutely must have celebrity teeth, wait until after college because you most likely won't have enough extra money for invisalign until then.
Reply:ALRIGHT..

get braces.. seriously! Invisalign is grosssss

ewwww

dont get it
Reply:ok. before i tell u anything. i am 14 but i know alot about braces and teeth ect!

invisalign are very expensive and you need to have a new one every two weeks or so. they are effective but really not as good as braces because after having the treatment, even with retainers your teeth may move. if you really want to get these, you should have a bonded retainer fitted (it is glued to the back of your teeth permanently) i have this and it works. hope i helped ya !!!! xx

Invisalign...?

Has anyone had invisalign or still have? I'm interested in braces for a minor job and not sure if I should go with the traditional braces or invisalign. Obviously as an adult you don't see to many people walking around with "metal mouths"...BUT does invisalign take alot longer than regular ones? How much longer approx? What about price? About how much more is it to get invisalign?

Invisalign...?
I have had my Invisalign since May. I have 13 trays for the bottom and 19 trays for the top, and you wear them for 2 weeks each, so I will be completely done in about 9 months. I didn't have any major problems with my teeth though, a few minor things. I am very happy with them, and nearly no one knows I have them. As well, one bonus that I got out of them is losing weight, since you cannot eat with them in, and you must brush after eating and before putting them back in, I no longer snack at all during the day. So, I have lost weight from not snacking. The dentist charges $4000 for the Invisalign, but my insurance lowers it to $3500 and they covered $2000, so my out of pocket is $1500. And I pay a little each month.
Reply:Hi, may i know which clinic you went to and what insurance from which agency did you get it from? i am very interested in it. thanks. hee... Report It

Reply:As an adult, i didn't want a mouth full of metal, so I did the same type of thing with retainers. It uses the same concept as the Invisalign, but costs much less. The retainers are made to fit your teeth the way you want them to be, then it forces your teeth to fit it when you where it. Talk to an ortho about your options.
Reply:Wow, my very first answer. lol Anyway, I am also interested in Invisalign, and i've been doing a lot of research. As for me, I also want a minor job done, as i'm developing a small space in between my two front teeth. From what I read on the Invisalign website, you can also get minor jobs with Invisalign, and it's called Invisalign Express, and lasts for approx. six months. I have considered this, because at 23, I also feel i'm too old to have metal braces. I just wouldn't feel comfortable. If I recall correctly, the costs of Invisalign ranges from 3,000-6,000 dollars.

I called the dentists office, and asked about the process. The receptionist told me that first, you go in for a consultation, and X-rays are done to decide whether or not you are a candidate to receive the Invisalign. The initial consultation is supposedly free...but then again, this might just be at the office I called. Then, if you are a candidate, they make the molds, and she told me that would cost around $250, and then it just goes from there. The downside to that initial free consultation is that, if you are a candidate, they begin doing the molds and additional X-rays immediately afterwards. So if you are seeking a consultation, do be prepared and go with any insurance you plan on using, and your money. I do know that metal braces are cheaper, and I do believe I was told that they do have some metal tooth correcting devices that are removable. I guess it just depends on what you need done. Well hope this helped. Good luck! :)

Invisalign?

For invisalign would i be a good applicant for it.

Can it correct my overbite plus my two front teeth is crooked and my dentist said invisalign will change colors and will take longer is this true?

I reallly want invisalign but because the dentist said it will change color he does not supply it only regular braces.

Should i go with metal braces or just go to another orthrodontist to get invisalign?

P.S the dentist/orthrodontist said i would have to wear metalbraces 4 years how long will invisalign take(estimate?)

Thankyou in advance

Invisalign?
I am currently using Invisalign and they are easy. And yes, they will correct overbite and crooked front teeth as that is what I have.

The dentist has said nothing about my teeth changing colour! Maybe this happens if you don't brush your teeth before you put the brace back in. You have to be really vigilant about brushing teeth after you have eaten as if they are not clean they will sit in the sugars in your mouth in the aligners and this can eat at the enamel. Also you can only drink water when the aligners are in.

Invisalign also only takes an average of 1 to 2 years and I have been really lucky as I only need 16 aligners and will be finished in just over 7 months. Hoorah!

One down side is that they have to put a couple of little white blobs on a few side teeth, these are like anchors to help the teeth to move correctly. They aren't noticeable but they do rub on your cheeks and tongue when you're eating.

Only other down side is they are not cheap, but I don't think metal braces are either. Mine are costing £4000. Gasp!

Most people I have talked to haven't even noticed that I have them on until I point them out too, which is great.

Good luck and if I were you I'd get a second opinion.

PhiliC
Reply:approximatly 2 yrs

always take a second opinion

all the best
Reply:.. Invisalign will probobaly be half the time of braces. And yes, it will correct your overbite %26amp; shift your teeth over straight. (If your teeth were too bad, they wouldn't of have given you the option to get invisalign).

Good luck. :)
